Looking round maternity units - can you take your older child?

Planning on looking round one or two of my local maternity units, but it occurred to me that they may not be happy bringing an older child? Is this right, does anyone know? If this is the case I will need to get a babysitter as I want DH to come with me!

Normally it's fine. But they will ask you what you plan to do on the day with her. :)

Yeah, that's the next challenge as grandparents live far away!

Probably best to ask before you go. Some postnatal wards will only children if they're the baby's siblings, although different situation. But I can see that from an infection control point of view the fewer visitors the better (especially ones that might not be so great at cleaning their hands!)

yes true tangle they might not want children from an infection point of view. I will ask at my next MW appt.
