Due today - can I have a moan?

I am due today with DC2. DC1 was over a week late and I didn't mind too much - lay on the bed reading trashy magazines and bounced on my birth ball watching trashy telly.

This time round I thought it might be different. Have been having really intense Braxton Hicks at decreasing intervals for about two weeks and thought it might mean that this one was early. Only have to walk up the stairs or unload the washing machine to set them off. Now I feel stupid for getting my hopes up and demoralised. I am soooo uncomfortable so much of the time and the thought of another week or two of this makes me want to sob! And it's bloody half term, so despite DD only being 2, all her activities and playgroups are off for the holidays and I've limited ways to keep her entertained (normally work pt, so not really fully part of the local mum network).

Even had a tearful fight with DH last night when he said it 'didn't matter' if I went overdue and I totally lost it with him.

Anyone care to sympathise or share a similar moan?

I am mostly loving how it got really really hot just after my due date. So now I'm overdue and boiling. Brilliant.

Poster- I know what you mean. When I said I was due at the end of May everyone said to me "Oooh, lovely, a spring baby, you won't have to put up with hot weather when you're big and uncomfortable", and I got the lovely Easter weather and now this... It's lovely weather, of course, but I don't think I'm appreciating it much! I spent most of yesterday afternoon with my feet in the paddling pool!

Thorny - yes, I'm keen to skip the triathlon too!

DD was a very long labour, so when we get to tonight it will be a longer wait than last time to get started. Then if we reach Tuesday I have my next appointment with the midwife and will have the induction discussion.

Loving your marathon analogy. I've definitely gone past 26 miles. I really need to be near the finish line now.

Both DS and DD were born on the 10th of the month. I hope I don't have to wait until then for #3.

Labour vibes to all.

just wanted to pop on with sympathy and encouragement.. ds2 is 3mo now and was only 2 days late but as i´d had bhs for weeks and some false alarms i really thought he´d come early so by 40 weeks I felt overdue (damn all those other mothers at the school gate who were popping 1 week, 2 weeks, 10 days early! seems I was the only one who didn´t go early..grrrrr).

In the event all those bhs really did their work and I only had about 1.5 hours of painful contractions before ds was born so fingers crossed yours are doing the same. Also I KNOW it doesn´t really help as people said the same on a similar thread i was on and it DID NOT HELP but i have to say it anyway, the very SECOND you have your baby and forever after those last weeks of waiting just melt away into nothing, like they never happened. I know second timers should know this already but it is worth repeating, try really hard to just get through each day with as much rest, baths, tv and mags as you can and remember THIS TOO SHALL PASS! lol

And for anyone who might be doubting, it is MUCH MUCH MUCH easier to have 1 child and a newborn than 1 child when you are pregnant! Smile

hang in there.

I totally sympathise with you.

I am 39+4 but foolishly had my hopes up that baby would be here by now as DS was 1 week early. Having loads of Braxton Hicks, and very uncomfortable.

Have also had to endure the 1/2 term marathon and ended up yesterday sending 4 yr old DS upstairs to be disciplined by dad for taking a hacksaw to the back door frame, I just didn't have the energy to discuss it with him rationally, so sat in the garden in tears instead!

I felt so rubbish that I couldn't manage 1 week by myself with DS, having tried so hard to make it some quality time before the baby comes. He's a very active boy and we usually we fill our time with very energetic activities that I simply cannot manage right now.

I am feeling a lot more rational today now DH has taken him off swimming to give me a couple of hours peace.

Take heart, 1/2 term over tomorrow and you can get some well deserved rest in preparation for the baby to come in it's own sweet time.

Good luck

Hi everyone, just thought I'd check in. Still here, still waiting, and a combination of period type pains and back ache meant 4 hours sleep last night. Hope others are doing better. Guess Thorny must have been induced by now...

I'm still around. Nothing happening so just trying to get on with life. Hope your period pains and backache develop into something good.

Thorny, hope it's all going well.

PrisonerZero · 07/06/2011 13:55

I am due on Thursday (which I think I am still in denial about to be honest) but was induced at 2 weeks over with both my other DC so am resigned to being late again.

I still have so much to do, my house is to messy to have a baby in at the moment. Well its not all that messy but just feels it because there is so much more stuff in it.

Thornykate · 07/06/2011 14:08

Baby girl (name not decided) arrived at 3am after 2hrs labour weighing 8lb 7oz.

I agree with round the houses; the on & off ctrx must do something as it was the quickest & easiest labour so far for me. I wish I'd known at the time exactly how much work they were doing behind the scenes in prep for labour it would of helped me a lot.

camdancer · 07/06/2011 14:41

Congrats Thornykate.

Secondtimelucky · 07/06/2011 15:31

Congratulations Thornykate. That's great.

I'm now booked in for induction a week tomorrow (42 +1) if nothing happens. May die of exhaustion before that point though! Right now would take a section under general just for the sleep!! Midwife couldn't even manage to do a sweep, so all my aches and pains seem to have just been for the fun of it. Que sera, sera.

Baby DD born at 4:15 this morning. Don't know if it was the combinaation of curry and sex last night - not at the same time - or that I arranged a meeting for today or just being 6 days late. Nice short labour at home, but didn't get any sleep at all last night.

Hope your birth goes well today Secondtimelucky.

Indaba · 08/06/2011 21:06

Actually feeling broody reading all this! Blimey....they may be late but you have lots of fun ahead! :)

Secondtimelucky · 09/06/2011 20:23

I got there in the end! Born this morning, 9 days overdue. 8lbs 2, she doesn't have a name yet, but she's wonderful!

Congratulations!

Thornykate · 10/06/2011 10:05

Congratulations camdancer & 2ndtime ! wonderful news Grin hope you had lovely calm labours & are recovering well x

Secondtimelucky · 10/06/2011 10:43

I wouldn't say it was calm - very slow and very hard, and then suddenly very, very fast. Practically shot out of the pool. But it was amazing and we're doing well. Hope everyone else is too!

Thornykate · 10/06/2011 11:26

My labour went fast at the end too, I think the weeks of niggles must speed up the last stages. Will remember that if I go overdue next time GrinWink glad u ok x
