Do you know, I've never seen a birth apart from those of my own sons. Have you?

I'd love to be present at a birth. Might have to have words with my sister.

I was my baby sisters birth partner last year. It was amazing experience, lucky thing had a quick first labour. Baby born 3 hours after getting to hospital.
I also couldn't sleep that night as it was such a rush of emotion. Found out I was pregnant the next day! She kept trying to get me to a pregnancy test while she was labouring Grin[

No apart from the one they show you in school. Can't think of anything worse. I could only tolerate my own as I didn't have to see the business end.

Yes I have - I'm a doula. It's always amazing however the journey is to the birth. But I don't find it scary or gory - I'm just amazed by women and what they can do. We are fan-flipping-fantastic!

yes, I was my friends birth partner when we were 16 - a lifetime ago now but I remember it like it was yesterday.
She made it seem easy... giving birth myself therefore came as a bit of a shock!!

I've been at a few deliveries during my time as a neonatal nurse, prem babies, twins, triplets, forceps, c- sections, even one where tragically the baby died. It's an amazing experience and a real honour to witness something so special. Oh and I was there for the birth of my two babies too ;) !!

Yes! We all did a obstetric block during nurse training, I loved it despite only being an impressionable girl of 23 at the time! It really was a privilege and I remember going home after my shifts ended on a real high each time I saw a birth. Saw a couple of PPH's and other traumatic births too, luckily all with good outcomes. And of course my own daughters birth many years later - but I don't remember much of that apart from my other half looking extremely nervous...
