that must be the only reason I am 10 days overdue. I have tried;

walking round the field
rubbbing bump with clary sage
drinking rasberry leaf tea
taking rasberry leaf tablets
bouncing on my birth ball
sleeping
baths

this has resulted in backache, the odd contractions and being 3cms dialated for 10 days but no bloody baby and now I am officially giving up. I wouldn't bloody mind but this is my second and Ds came on time within 5 hours !!!!

ARGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I have had the birth pool set up for 10 days taking up the area we normally eat in so we're eating our teas off our knees....so tempted to just fill it up for fun now.

rant over I will now get on on with my life accepting that I just have a fat belly

Good luck, hope it kicks off naturally.
If you do have the crochet hook, I had it last year and it didn't hurt at all. The relief from the pressure was immense. DS was back to back so I don't know if that anything to do with it.
Hope you meet your new arrival soon.

I sympathise! but hang on in there - the babies are just not ready yet. And your 'due date' is not set in stone - it's just a guide! 10 days is nothing. Both of mine went for 14. Confused Grin

Have you felt whether your cervix is ripe? If it's not ripe, all the stuff you're trying won't work. It should be low down and feel mushy, like a chin as opposed to a nose (unless you have a bony chin Wink).

I recommend castor oil - it took less than 2 hours to get working on her ripe cervix. Try 1-2 tbsp in scrambled eggs. You won't taste the oil, especially if you cook it with onions and garlic or some other nice combination.

Good luck!

hahah no I'm okay queenofdreams, getting loads of sleep somehow. Your womb does sound very comfy :)

just impatient and finished the nursery mural so other than cleaning (yawn) not got a lot to do, Ds has started preschool too

The hormonal crying stopped at the weekend when I realised that every contraction wasn't the start of labour, had been getting very excited before then everytime I felt it start, have been crocheting a blanket so maybe should get on with that rather than reading mn.....

glad to hear about the crochet hook ! This baby is also back to back which is why the mw thinks its slow.....

I have felt my cervix and it does indeed feel soft, the mw's all said that it was very favourable (glow of pride)

this is why I think I might hang on till next week, thank you all for the encouragement !

Aww, before you know it your baby will be here and you'll be crying from joy instead! Grin

Good news about your cervix! You're well on the way.

I found that telling myself to change my attitude to being overdue made a HUGE difference - people had been making so many well-meaning but frankly, irritating comments, practically from Overdue Day 1, that it was hard to keep things in perspective.

As you know, as long as all the measures are ok - heart rate, amnio fluid, and one other thingummy which I've forgotten - the baby is fine and dandy. So just be vague when people ask you when the baby's due, and enjoy the fact that your baby will be so well-prepared for life outside the womb.

SpeedyGonzalez · 25/05/2011 14:18

And don't forget to do lots of knee-chest resting to help shift the baby round and shorten your labour.

Morning pretty ... Anything?

SpeedyGonzalez · 26/05/2011 19:53

prettywhiteguitar · 27/05/2011 19:48

Yes ! Baby Isla Rose is here finally, born yesterday at 4.30pm

I decided to just go with the induction in the hope that breaking my waters would start everything off.....and it did, within 5mins i had contractions and she was born 2hrs later !

It wasn't bad having my waters broken at all and it felt quite natural, just lots of gas and air and out she comes face up !

Shes feeding great and is a right chubby 8lb 5oz so quite a big baby for me, i'm 5ft and quite small, have to admit I'm feeling v. proud of myself !! yey uterus toned up by all that rasberry leaf tea :)

Due dates drive me mad! The "normal" gestational period ranges from 265-300 days - a big range, right? And why not? Your due date is drawn up at 282 days (the average), but maybe your baby doesn't know that Wink. So, while it's a pain in the proverbial to be "late" (lets face it, we all generally want the baby "out" even before the due date!!!) - your baby will come when s/he's ready, or when you decide to induce him/her.

Other things to try in case you want to give it one last try - sex to orgasm! (semen contains hormones that kick off labour if the baby's ready). Nipple stimulation - in the bath, even better! And reflexology (find someone who specializes in kicking off labour).

Plus, to alleviate the stress of it all, ask a friend or your partner to stroke your back in an upwards direction using the backs of their fingers in a fan-like fashion. This is to stimulate the release of your body's natural morphine - endorphins which are way more powerful!

Any remember - above all - your baby's not ACTUALLY late yet - not 'til you reach 43 weeks (and that's if your dates are correct!).

Hang in there... your baby will want to come out - when s/he's ready. S/he's just busy growing a bigger brain right now :)

Congratulations! I'm now 18 days overdue. Induction is booked for Wednesday, but I'm going to try everything I can to move things along naturally before then.
