39+5 with DC3. A few twinges etc but have heard of loads of false starts with third labour. Is that true? (obviously hoping not...)

I have had period type pains here and there for days and this morning had a few which could have been contraction in style if I really applied some wishful thinking!

All quiet again now but am just wondering if anyone has had this experience with DC3 or in fact any DC and had labour start in the next 48 hours?

Have heard stories of third labour stopping and starting and so hope that doesn't happen to me!

Another 3rd timer here. I am 36 weeks still have buikders in, was on time with my first two but everyone tells me the third is a curve ball. Much harder to plan the child care. My mum is abraod and notdue back for another two weeks.

Monkey, hoppe that you have either given birth now or got some sleep and have it today. Thinking of you. X

Monkey
Hope you are busy having baby!
Update when you get a chance please!
Unchanged here, just niggling but have now got sore throat and cold courtesy of ds1 so don't mind waiting another few days till I am better!

Hello lovely fellow mumsnetters. I'm delighted to report that Ted was born at home at 7.32 this morning weighing 6lb15oz.

The contractions continued on all night and really ramped up at about 4am. The midwife returned at 7am with the essential gas and air and the second midwife arrived at 7.30 just in time! I can't pretend the labour was a bed of roses but as always it's already becoming a distant memory and my gorgeous little snuffling boy makes it all worth it, and then some.

Really good luck to everyone awaiting labour - particularly you mummysleepy.

Thank you for all your kind, supportive words.

x

Just an update to say ds3 arrived safely yesterday morning only 3 days over, weighing 8lb 11oz.
Waters popped in bed and baby arrived 5 hours later after pretty short intense labour ( only about 2 hours of established labour )

Hope everyone else has their babies soon

FlubbaBubba · 30/05/2011 19:34

Congratulations mummysleepy :) lovely news

monkey32 · 31/05/2011 13:51

Hooray - well done mummysleepy! So glad you didn't have to wait too long to meet your little one.

Did the waters make a complete mess of the bed?? Or was it a hind waters trickle?

I too had a short established labour and went from 5cm to birth in 30 mins! Could really have done without the 10 hours latent warm up though! Latent indeed, felt like proper pain to me...

There must be something about 5cm- I was examined and was5cm but very stretchy, one more contraction then I was pushing!! Midwife was slightly surprised!!
Luckily was sleeping on a towel when my waters went so not too much mess!!
