Do you have a raised c-section scar?

Had an ELCS almost 7 months ago. Scar is quite raised and in parts it feels like it has "piping" in it for want of a better description.

This doesn't seem normal, i think i have a keloid scar. Wondering whether it can be flattened with silicon strips, or if i have to have it cut out when i have a DC2. (not pg, but planning one in the future...)

With my first DS my C-Section scar went Keloid exactly as you describe. Wanted a VBAC with my 2nd DS but ended up not progressing and needing a C-section. The Consultant said they would tidy up my scar before I went to theatre and they did! Not a very narrow pencil line and 2 years on has gone white so hardly noticeable.

Oops,Should of said 'now a very narrow pencil line'!

mine felt raised for years but gradully went almost invisible

Mine was raised after DD and DS. I thought that was normal, was I wrong? DS is nearly three, my scar had started to go flat and white from each side, slowly progressing almost to the middle. I have just had a third section with DD2 though. In another three years time hopefully you'll hardly be able to see it!

My first scar was quite raised ( it was a bit of a rush job I think as it was GA emcs and took a long time to heal) but it was fine and I wasn't that bothered. 2nd section was also emergency but at least was awake and I remember the surgeon making a comment like " it's bit of a mess, I'll try and do a better job". Now have an almost invisible line ( apart from the lovely overhang :) )
Don't know if it's to do with surgeon skill, but if you end up with a second cs then it maight well be different afterwards. I wouldn't worry about it until after you are all done with babies!!

betterwhenthesunshines "It's a bit of a mess, I'll try and do a better job" Shock I think I would have freaked out if I heard them say that!

Mine is ever so slightly raised, but I'm glad to say that the colour is certainly fading :) I'm nearly 10 months on after my EMCS.

no - didn't freak out as I knew it didn't look perfect so it wasn't surprising. I also had more on my mind at the time and was just pleased that he thought he could try and do better :)
