39wks preg & ELCS booked for Monday. C Section clinic yesterday for bloods etc & got the feeling SHO was trying to talk me out of it. CS is being done due to prev tear, NOT because im 'too posh to push'! Had made the decision prior to getting pregnant that any further babies would be born by cs so I had got my head round it. Cant explain why Im feeling so .....up in the air now....
SHO kept pointing out the risks, I know they have to but.....maybe im just frightened....just feel like screaming/crying/running away..........

I'm no expert but had ELCS a week a go today and all was fine all very laid back and all went smoothly. A week on I now feel ok can't imagine I'd have felt any better had I had a long labour, stitches etc! I'm sure you'll be fine.

WhatSheSaid · 19/05/2011 09:50

You'll be fine, you'll be fine, you'll be fine Smile

My neighbour was round today, she had an elcs 6 weeks ago after a bad tear first time round. Before the cs she was clearly worrying about it and asking me about pain post-op etc.

today she was saying "I can't believe how little pain there was! It was fine".

Obviously experiences vary but I think the vast majority of people who have an elcs have a calm, positive experience. I know people will be along to point out it's major surgery etc, but just keep up with your medication, take it easy afterwards, you;ll be fine. I've had 2 cses and would def have another.

The worst that happened in my ELCS was that the surgeon cut DDs bum with the scalpel a week on and cut is nearly gone along with my pain. I had to stop taking pain killers 2 days ago so I remember I've had surgery cos with them I'd be pain free and probably do too much!!

I had a ELCS 2nd time after having bad tearing the first time, and it was great. The recovery which much better, the procedure was much better, DH was much calmer, I was less tired as I hadn't had 30hrs of labour. Brill. You'll be fine I'm sure

I'm having a cs this time - tore badly with dd who arrived in 2 hours. We went to see consultant in November and conceived in December. Consultant had agreed to cs but I knew mw would try to talk me out of it - at 7w booking appointment she tried and I smiled politely. Then we found our baby was infact ID twins so am under consultant care. They gave me full choice and after consultant said twin1 should be able to come naturally but twin2 may well be cs I confirmed that the thought of natural and cs was too much so I'd have a cs.

I feel happy with my decision but still nervous - I think that's normal. Good luck for Monday xx

I had a CS nearly 9 weeks ago and have to say it was a really positive experience. I was absolutely petrified before hand but it couldn't have been any better... I kept telling myself that you just have the pain afterwards rather than before... this is much easier as you have a beautiful baby to look at!! :)

I was in quite a bit of pain for the first 24-48 hours after, but after that it was manageable.

Good luck and keep focusing on the fact you're going to meet your baby very soon!!! :)

Just adding to the chorus of reassurance about CS. Mine was a lovely experience and completely straight-forward recovery. Baby comes out less squished too!

kreecherlivesupstairs · 20/05/2011 13:36

Brilliant way to birth children. It is major surgery, but I am so pleased that DD was born that way. She wasn't all squashed up looking.
I had very little pain following mine, the most uncomforable thing was having the urinary catheter removed.
In other ways it 's good too. You know when the baby is coming and can arrange childcare around that. Your DH can inform work too.
Good luck and fingers crossed for a girl positive experience.

I had elcs 3 weeks ago and was just like you beforehand. Was a major wimp when I had to walk into the oerating theatre, but everyone lovely, especially fab anaesthetist. Think they must see this all the te.
