Posted in PG too: DC2, found out this week is lying sideways with feet under my ribs, back to my pelvis. Will ceratinly be CS if he/she doesn't turn, which I really want to avoid. Does anyone have any advice? TIA

Can the baby be turned manually? have you been offered this? My DS2 was breech at 34 weeks and was turned by a consultant at 36 weeks. Lasted about 30 secs, mild discomfort, nothing else. He was then born at 40 weeks, naturally, in water and it was my nicest birth experience. There's also plenty of time for your baby to turn without help, although you're probably sick of people telling you this :)

DD2 was very very mobile right up til a coupl of days before I started in labour, despite being 9lb she still had room to turn right round , though it was a tad uncomfortable!

I was booked in for having her (succesfully) turned by the consultant (ECV I think its called, external cephalic version?? long time ago!) at about 37 weeks, had several scans after that at which she was in a different place every time!
she must have known when she was ready though as she came out head down and at great speed!
I think theres also a position you can kneel in, resting on your forearms with bum in the air thats supposed to help them turn?

anyway, transverse at 34 weeks certainly does not mean definite CS

Thank you both, that is reassuring. I shouldn't have googled! Will dig out the birth ball tonight and drape over it regularly (while toddler tries to kick it out from under me no doubt!)

have a look at www.spinningbabies.com for some good positions to try to encourage little one to turn

My ds2 was transverse when I had a scan at 32 weeks (extra scans due to BMI over 30) but when I went back for the next one at 36 weeks he had turned head down but no idea when it happened! I second checking out spinning babies I did lots of these and also the heat and cold that they suggest, no idea if that's what did it but worth a go. He was the other way up to yours, his spine was under my diapragm and only one leg below my belly button! Good luck.
