Whinge alert!

I am due today with my first baby. I was feeling ok about it until yesterday afternoon when I started to get bombarded with texts and phone calls wishing me luck today Confused I got really stressed and a bit tearful!

Do people not understand how it works?!

I know I should be grateful that I have lots of family and friends who care about me and are wishing me well so I do feel dreadful for feeling this way...but I can't help it, it is stressing me out big time!! Perhaps it's a sign that things are starting...the irritability and grumpiness Grin.

Is it really mean to just ignore people when they call and text? I just feel like I can't deal with repeating myself!

Yours very grumpily Blush

Just a quick note to say the waiting is worth it, mini doozer arrived at 6.10 on sunday evening (15th) at 40+11. To all those having niggles, they will be doing something I was only in labour for 14 hours and my second stage was apparently very quick!

crazybutterflylady · 17/05/2011 08:24

CONGRATS sal, what did you have? Hope you are feeling well Grin and a bit of Envy

Glad you managed to avoid being induced!

Many congratulations!

But now I want my baby!!!!! Arghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

41+1 today and no sign. Why won't you come out?

kiwidreamer · 17/05/2011 11:48

Cant wait til my first thought as I open my eyes in the morning isnt 'bah still pregnant', I honestly feel way to comfortable to be anywhere near giving birth, apart from being tired and fed up of course. Have Googled acupressure points to induce labour this morning but can only manage the one on my hands and cant reach the other points myself LOL so will have to wait til DH gets home or for the Reflexology session tomorrow evening.

I have kinda made peace with the c section booked for Friday, the way I see it, without being too crass hopefully, is that plenty of careless, heartless, soulless women are able to VB and if it turns out my body can't/won't then it certainly doesn't make me less of a Woman or Mother. I'll do my best of course but the parenting journey is a long one, not defined by how a child is born. So I'll keep walking and do my dutiful sweeps and reflexology (still not touching that blardy castor oil tho!!) and if nature doesnt take care of business then by Friday night I'll be holding my baby girl and that is all that really matters.

However I might volunteer my body for scientific research, there must be some kind of reason why I can fall pregnant easily and have the most uneventful pregnancies ever but cant actually seem to finish the job off myself!!!! DS was well overcooked by 17days over and my placenta was wrecked / no waters left that I'm pretty sure I dont just have a naturally long gestation.

Double Sigh.

saldoozer · 18/05/2011 07:33

I had a girl weighing 8lb 11 only used gas and air! She didn't look overdone at all so I guess she just came when she was ready Smile
Hope all the others overdue on this thread are feeling better, it can't be long now.

JBrd · 18/05/2011 10:11

41+2 today, sooo fed up and frustrated. Everyone around me is popping their babies, grrrr!
Had a sweep on Monday, another one tomorrow, then booked in for induction on Saturday, sigh...

BusyBeeMommy · 18/05/2011 11:23

Hiya, can I join in and have a winge pls? Same boat as you, I am 41 tomorrow, absolutely no sign of baby's arrival yet. Quite frustrated, I feel more active and might go on like this forever. I had a sweep last week, no effect whatsoever. This is my VBAC attempt, it seems it may not happen for me :(

Sorry about the winge, hope some of those cozy little ones arrive today!

peedieworky · 18/05/2011 12:14

Am still hanging on! 41+2 and counting... Had reflexology yesterday and she seemed confident I would go today so refusing to give up hope! Booked in for stage 1 induction tomorrow so hope she's right Shock

Vakant · 18/05/2011 15:06

I'm still hanging on too, now 41+1. Got my second sweep booked in for tomorrow and a reflexology session on friday so hopefully one, or a combo of both, will do the trick!

Incapinka · 18/05/2011 16:43

And hello to you all! I am 40 weeks today... And the bump has told me that it is perfectly happy where it is thank you very much so think i will be hear for the duration too. Have a stretch and sweep booked in for Monday although the MW isnt holding out much hope that the sweep will work as it has been wedged under my right rib cage for the past 12 weeks and doesnt seem to want to move out of that position ever. As i am not that massive (phew) most of my friends had guessed it would be late but the biggest problem is that our next door neighbour found out that i was pregnant last Saturday. He asked my DH whether i had changed jobs as he had noticed that i hadnt gone to work the past few weeks and was rather shocked to find out that i was pregnant and due the following week - bless him. Now whenever i appear in the car or outside he is lurking waiting to pounce to ask if i am allright (once would be sweet, 16 times in a minute with 2 fingers being held in front of him crossed isnt...) So now not only am i feeling fat with sore legs but having to hide from my sweet, elderly nosy neighbour!

Heres hoping that labour isnt too far away (& is quick & not too painful! OK that will probably be too much to hope for!)

Whiteybaby · 18/05/2011 20:17

Hi all, another story to offer hope over here! DS arrived at 6.30am this morning in the pool at home after a brief 6.5 hour labour. Was booked in for my first sweep this lunchtime and think the thought of that was enough to set me off!

Like saldoozer i think all those depressing niggles made the real deal a lot quicker. Also def had that feeling of will I ever wake up not pregnant and fully expected last nights niggles to tail off again but obviously not!

He is an ounce shy of 9lbs and with a huge head but the lovely pool did the trick and very slight tear which didnt need stitches ...

best of luck to those still waiting they will be here soon .... promise!

crazybutterflylady · 18/05/2011 20:36

Well done sal only g&a is impressive!

And congrats to you whitey thanks for coming back to keep our chin up!

Still nothing going on here although have suddenly started to feel really tight chested and my indigestion is worse than ever... Is that a sign or am I clutching at straws?!!

Hi, I am overdue, too, and keep getting bombarded with emails and texts asking me "any news??"... This is incredibly annoying, and I have had a few tearful outbursts... Swimming and eating icecream (pathetic) helps me to relax a bit... I also stopped responding to people and do not pick up my phone Grin

crazybutterflylady · 22/05/2011 10:44

Have we had any more deliveries? I need some good news to keep me going Grin feel like I am destined to be pregnant forever!

Justtrying · 22/05/2011 11:03

40+2 here, also fed up of the calls and texts. Still got bad indigestion. Was really uncomfortable yesterday evening but feel ok, this morning. Just wish Lo would hurry up and put in an appearance.

Incapinka · 22/05/2011 13:51

I am still here - 40+4 now and have first sweep booked in tomorrow. DH was planning on coming back for it as he thought it was me and the MW having a jolly, hippy dance round the sitting room. Now he knows a bit more he has decided not to be there!!

Vakant · 22/05/2011 14:54

My second sweep and reflexology session did the trick! I went into labour on Friday evening and delivered my little girl late morning on Saturday.

Congrats to everyone else with their new babies, and good luck for those still waiting!

crazybutterflylady · 22/05/2011 20:46

Vacant that's great, congratulations! It's exactly what I need to hear since tomorrow I have a reflexology session booked in the morning and my second sweep in the afternoon Grin

The first sweep was quite painful, she brought the cervix forward but she said I was 1-2cm dilated... That was Friday and although I've had a show and a lot more BHs, nothing has happened...booooo

Good luck to everyone!

hmmmum · 26/05/2011 14:28

how is everyone, any more births?
Thought I'd jump in - I'm 40+5 and starting to doubt I will ever go into labour. I've resigned myself to having to be induced in June. That wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, but it's so hard waiting... So desperate to meet my baby. But her head isn't engaged and I haven't had any labour signs at all. I'm hoping that it will all just happen suddenly in the next couple days!
It is tough getting all the texts etc - it makes me want to be a hermit and hide away from the world until I have a baby..just trying to remember everyone's excited and they mean well.
how are other overdue mums getting on?

Justtrying · 26/05/2011 16:50

hmmmum still here too 40+6. Twinges and lots of show but nothing more. Starting to think LO might also be a june baby. Pre induction appt on monday, that mw thought i wouldn't need when she did sweep on tuesday, induction tues or wed if no movement by then. Also feel like i'm in limbo and in danger of becoming a hermit. I have been out today relexology this morning and to visit MiL and wish her happy birthday. Good luck to all still waiting.

crazybutterflylady · 27/05/2011 08:20

I had my baby girl on Tuesday! So I WAS pregnant and not just windy Grin

Good luck to you all...I know it's been said to death but they really are worth the wait. And she wasn't that big either, 7lb 13 :)

Keep active and your LOs will be here before you know it!

hmmmum · 27/05/2011 17:49

Yay! Congratulations crazybutterflylady! It's always good to know they do pop out eventually!
Hope yours comes soon too justtrying.
Mine's still very comfy in the womb. Am SICK of curry - I think it'll be at least a year before I can look at chicken bhoona again.
I had a long walk today, think I'll have a bath and see if that does anything...

thell · 28/05/2011 18:32

Good to hear your stories :)
I'm 41 weeks today. I've been like a minor celebrity in the playground, so started dreading the school run for all the questioning and comments - lovely that they all care so much, but honestly - the other day I did a drop and run so I wouldn't have to talk to anyone, but ended up with a text, an email and someone waving at me on the high street and pointing to the bump!
DD came on her due date, so this has been a bit of a surprise.
The main issue is that DH planned 3 wks of paternity leave and started it last week regardless. Now he's getting restless and bored and frustrated, worrying about running out of leave before the baby comes, and won't let me so much as pop to the corner shop on my own!

The biggest relief is hearing that those with niggles seem to have smoother labours - I've been getting 'signs' for over a week now.
COME ON BABY!!!

Justtrying · 29/05/2011 07:48

thell similar story here. 41+2 today, niggles and signs for over a week now. DH also on paternity sounds just like your DH. I think we've tried everything sweep last tuesday, curry and chilli galore, housework, walks, bath with clary sage, sex etc and LO still very comfy, starting to feel resigned to induction this week.
Have appt tomorrow at hospital to discuss options and have another sweep and will be booked in for tues or wed. I'm hoping they might break my waters tomorrow as the mw last week said I was 3cm dilated and it was possible if required. Unless anything happens today. Fx
