She's moving from London to Taunton to be with baby's Dad. She'll go when she starts maternity leave (37/8 weeks!!). I know there's quite a few midwife led units in Somerset & Devon but don't know which are close to Taunton? can anyone recommend one?

What is the Musgrave ('grove?) like?

Musgrove is fine - big hospital. I was there for 3 days when dd1 tried to come early. The SCBU is very good which is why I was moved there - my local hospital is Yeovil and only deals with babies 33w and over. I like Yeovil as it has small wards of 6 beds (when I had dd1 - she actually arrived at 39 +5w) I had a whole ward to myself. No water birth in Yeovil (about 40mins from Taunton). Yeovil Hospital is a "Women's Hospital" attached to main hospital so mw led but has easy access to registrars and consultants if needed. I'm having cs there in Sept (ID twins).

3 friends at work live in Taunton and are going to Musgrove. I remember it having one big ward, but the staff were lovely and SCBU were fab even though we luckily didn't need it in the end.

By all means message me if you have any questions - I can always ask the girls at work - one is due in June and the other 2 in August.

I had two of mine at musgrove. They have a birthing centre there now as well although I had my babies on the labour ward. Was very busy but the midwives were lovely. Feel free to pm me with any questions
