Care Options for DS if DD comes before 41wks

I've found out today that my Dad who has been living with us for almost 3 mths and who was going to take care of DS 2.8yrs if/when I go into labour has finally got some work for the next three weeks, starts tomorrow, I'm due on Friday. My mum is booked to come from 41wks (they are live in carers for the elderly) so now i need to figure out what to do with DS if I do happen to go into labour. DS was 17 days late and ended in an EMCS, I was refused an ELCS and was feeling ok about a VBAC but now I'm back to feeling overwhelmed and stressed out.

Anyhow, I'm not local to these parts, the closest friend I have gave birth this morning, my neighbours are nice and are in their 50's but have offered to help. Does anyone know about babysitting services for this kind of situation?

I'm fecking shitting myself that I'll have to give birth on my own if DH has to stay with DS.

Dear Kiwi, don't panic!! If you trust your neighbours though why not accept their offer? They are there, willing and stand a chance of keeping a relationship going with you after the momentous event...you can always send them a big box of fruit to say thanks! Be part of your community and you might get a chance to help someone else out sometime! BUT if you are uncomfortable with this....
Use your web....look for childminders/nannys/babysitters in local authority web page find the 4/5 nearest then phone and sound desparate...i childmind and have helped out a couple of people in your situation. Make sure they are OFSTED registered (they will have a certificate). OR if you live near an FE college that does childcare qualifications phone them and see whether any newly qualified nannys are looking for babysitting type work....it looks good on their CV if they are still applying for jobs. Good luck!
