Is a VBAC still possible?

Had my 20 week scan today and all well with baby. The placenta however is close to my section scar.
I am to go back at 34 weeks to be rescanned to see if it has moved up.
If it is still close to the scar, will I be advised to have a section?
Didn't see anyone apart from sonographer today so didn't really get much information.

AFAIK they only worry if the placenta is low down by the cervix or covering the cervix, this will often have moved up out of the way by the time you are full term.

I imagine that if the placenta is over the scar, the last thing they would want to do is cut into it for a CS?

I think the risk is that if they don't do a CS then if accreta it will not come away naturally after birth and could lead to severe problems with blood loss, from what I have been reading.

My consultant is pushing me to a VBAC with a placenta in this position (mine is right over the scar) on the basis that they won't be able to tell if it's accreta beforehand anyway and the risk is quite small. So your consultant may support you in a VBAC if that is what you want. I'm worried about the accreta though (I have a fairly conservative attitude towards risk) so I am pushing for a repeat cs.

Would be interested to hear about your outcome and what you are advised at your hospital.
