Induction stories - when did you move from a shared ward to a single room for labour?

E.g. how many cms dilated, how far apart were contractions, which procedures were done in the shared ward etc before you were moved to a single room on the labour ward?

(Can you tell that I do not feel comfortable being in any stage of labour in a shared ward? I'm not sure if it's better or worse that the local hospital has extended visiting for partners - being in a room with other pg ladies is bad enough but their partners too Shock. Surely it's like getting a smear test done in an open plan surgery with a curtain to 'protect your privacy'?)

I had the gels in the ward which did very little anyway. I was moved round to the labour ward when they had space to break my waters and be put on the drip.

None of the others on the ward seemed to be at a point in there labour where they were in pain that wasn't controlled with Paracetamol.

i can't remember much but i know i wasn't checked internally or in any other way so midwife must have secretly monitoring my contractions as i was moved as soon as i started really moaning and fidgeting/rocking on my hands and knees.

also they kick you out for a walk after the pessary thing is put in, i walked to the local tescos and started contracting in there and had to stagger right backGrin

VE on ward on Thursday, no gel as 2-3cm dilated. That's exactly what the examination was like, with a tiny gap in the curtain and the fear that the couple in the bed opposite were going to get a full view of all my worldy goods!

DH stayed with me all day as we wandered about bored rather than sitting in the bed pointlessly.

Moved to labour room on Friday morning for waters being broken then stayed there for almost 24 hours until DD was born.

Thanks, I suppose people are moved according to bed availability as well as for what's official policy. It's interesting to hear others' experiences.
