Hello,

A funny one, but how much do you have to shave 'down there' before you go in? Lol!!!
Plus what do you wear? Just their gown?

You don't have to shave at all. And you wear their theatre gown open at the back. Take some huge knickers in with you and they'll put them on along with a maternity towel.

I've only ever had emergencybc-sections, but they shaved me themselves and put me in a hospital gown (bum showing, etc).

immac off the top section the day before. job done xx good luck

Don't shave at all - they will shave you.

You wear nothing under their gown. I lost my favourite pair of pants when I had dc1 not realising this.

Meglet · 23/04/2011 22:16

hospital gown. I changed into my nightie the day after each cs.

They shaved the top inch off for my EMCS and planned cs. TBH when I'm not pg I am pretty well groomed down there so the scar is well above my bikini line these days.

RambleOn · 23/04/2011 23:11

Just to clarify, my hospital do not shave you for a planned c/s and ask that you do not shave yourself. They said that there is evidence that the risk of wound infection increases due to tiny 'nicks' in the skin surface. And why would you want regrowth through the scar tissue?!

NimpyWindowmash · 23/04/2011 23:16

Slightly different for me, I didn't bother shaving before elcs, no one told me I had to. But I was made to feel quite a nuisance for not having already done so.

sarahbeth2 · 24/04/2011 11:08

Wonder is immac is ok, i take it is?

Do not want to leave it to them yucky ;)

I had an EMCS but I do keep myself well trimmed down there anyway, so was no shaving in theatre. You will need to wear nothing underneath as they need to insert a cathater.

BigSooz · 25/04/2011 09:39

For my first section the midwife shaved me, which I found so humiliating. She got well over zealous, too!

For my second (in a different hospital) the midwife just handed me a razor and said 'just take an inch or so off below your original scar', which I did and it was fine.

Imnotaslimjim · 25/04/2011 09:48

Fr my ELCS they shaved me, but not enough. its to stop the plaster sticking to the hairs afterward and it still stuck to mine Angry

If you can do it yourself, I suggest you do, at least then its a decent job!
