I have never had an EMCS, but I had an ELCS 10 weeks ago as DD was breech. DS was a horrible forceps and 3rd degree tear birth.

My CS was bloody wonderful and recovery was great too. It is very relaxed and I remember it all with a good memory. I didn't feel exhausted and shattered either like after DS's birth.

If I ever did have any more, I would certainly be opting for an ELCS again.

Good luck. Smile

I attempted a Vbac last year and had a section,it was almost like an ELCS and was an amazing experience and so calm unlike the first time.
Of course with your first you never think you'll end up with an emcs.
Good luck,it will be fantastic.
With my 2nd they held the screen down and held him up so we could discover the sec ourselves which was really special.

Yay I have had two ELCS and both great experiences. Ask them to lower the screen so you can watch your dc being born, you'll remember it forever.

Recovery is usually a lot quicker after second c-section too.

Ooh, exciting. Try not to be too nervous (hard, I know). My elective section was the best day of my life!

I had an emergency section for my first baby, and had planned a VBAC for my second baby, but last minute health problems meant I had a 'planned section' at 37 weeks.

I cannot tell you how different to the two experiences were. The elective was fabulous. I was extremely nervous goig into theatre (let's face it, they are scary places!), but I needn't have worried. The whole experience was calm, serene, wonderful. I was on a high for months afterwards.

I would do it again in a flash! (unfortunately DH not so keen Grin).

Good luck (you won't need it) and how wonderful to be so close to meeting your beautiful baby!

I had two ELCS's, absolutely through choice. What amazing experiences both were. So calm and beautiful. Both my boys got breastfeeding technique straight away and I was out of hospital after two days and driving within a week. Look after yourself and take the pain relief regularly for the first few days, even if you don't feel like you need it.

Always makes me smile when I remember my sister telling me I would regret not having natural births one day. Twelve years on, she still can't go near a trampoline. :-)

How exciting!

I had EMCS with first DS and opted for ELCS with DS2 (am already booked in for DC3 in September!)

The elective was obviously much more relaxed than the first and I am able to remember a lot more as I wasn't absolutely knackered after 4 days labour!

The whole atmosphere from epidural to theatre was so easy going and chatty. I felt really calm and alert and actually it was a really enjoyable experience as childbirth should be. Whereas the first time, DH and I were terrified, anxious, there is so much fear of the unknown, as you will know cause you've been there already!

I'm sure you will have a much more pleasant experience this time around. Good luck!!

I've had 2 ELCS too and for me they were also very relaxed and I recovered quickly.

I was aloud to take music into my 2nd one and my daughter was born to the sound of Elvis, she absolutely loves his music!.

You will very soon be meeting your new baby so relax and enjoy!
Good luck!

All done! Grin

It was fab! Baby Mara Elizabethwas born on Friday at 11:29 weighing 7lb5. Grin she's lush!

It was brilliant! Got twitchy waiting to go to thrasher as no idea when they'd call us but all if a sudden it was out turn and SO calm! Chatted to drs and nurses then she was here! :)
I feel do much better than last time- physically and mentally, feeding is going ok despite Tongue tie (long story) and she isn't loosing that much weight so all good!

Having a quiet pm while dh and ds go to park but it's been ace!

An elcs is completely different to an emcs! Grin
