There is a MNetter on here who is a midwife there. Keep bumping and she may come onand give you the low down.
Are you in Lincoln, or outside?

im in lincoln itself so the county hopsital is my only option really! Ive been to the antenatal assesment center twice and so far the staff and the rooms were really nice so im hoping its like that in the labour ward

I have messaged my friend who works there .Will pop back if /when she gives me some info.
Have you met a lovely midwife called ruth in the out patirnt clinic( not who I'm messaging) she used to be my neighbour?

I had DD3 there in 2009. The labour ward/delivery suite is lovely. They were so attentive and supportive.

If I'm totally honest with you (please don't think badly of me) from a mums point of view I personally wasn't impressed with postnatal ward. If I'd had a natural birth I'd have gone home as soon as I could. But I was in 10 days after a C-Section having developed complications. It is very busy (as I'm sure most city hospitals are!) so you may face a wait when you buzz. One word of advice...be insistent if you feel you need help or support. DO NOT sit quietly or you risk being overlooked Smile.

Now for the shocker...I worked on the postnatal ward & in the community for a year so can absolutely say from another point of view that the midwives there are worked SO hard. They have a huge workload and to be honest they (most of them) are lovely.

Good luck!

I had both my DD's there. DD1 they were great she was a feb baby- wards not too busy and nothing was too much bother for them, all in all lovely experience and great staff.

DD2 however wasnst. I do think this may have been due to her being second baby but my experience was awful. She is a June baby and they were SO busy, no rooms, not enough midwives and after care was terrible too i was just left too it (was even left in my dirty sheets until i cleaned it all myself [shocke]). BUT the midwives i did see were VERY lovely, they were just so over worked.
Do not be afriad to use that buzzer to make sure you have the labour you want.

All of our friends had their children there too (6+ babies between them all)
And all great experiences (all first babies)

Really hope it all goes well for you

The very happiest two days of my life were spent in Lincoln hospital with my PFB son. Admittedly, I did pay for a TPTP c -sec and had a lovely sunny private room with own bathroom. But all the staff were fantastic and so kind to everyone. Great consultant - Martin Lamb - wonder if he is still there.

clouiseg · 23/04/2011 21:49

happy yes he is as far as I'm aware!

Oddly my consultant in Scotland who I saw Thursday had worked previously at LCH as an SHO and we were discussing Mr Lamb, along with Mr Vogt & Mr Vellacott!! tis a small world!

The resident consultants are fantastic there as are the midwives, I think it's simply a case of being short staffed. Glad you had a good experience though Smile

I haven't had my baby yet, but I did have a scare in December and was in the Lincoln maternity ward for the night. I was so so impressed with all the doctors and nurses I came across, that I've been worried that I've now moved away from the best hospital. They were so friendly and attentive. I felt very well looked after at a scary time. I'd love to be giving birth there - hope Welwyn lives up to it!

had a c sec here 2 years ago, compared to St Georges, Tooting, where I had my first it was utter paradise.
Staff very very lovely (apart from weird midwife who told us in all seriousness that bfing is a reliable form of contraception Hmm)
and best of all it was so clean, I had taken Flash in to clean the loos as St G was like a slaughterhouse, but it was spotless!
