Show or no show? (TMI sorry)

Last night, had very large, sticky and cohesive lump of very pale coloured pant snot (sorry Blush) and this morning, just a larger than normal amount of 'normal' pant snot.

This triggered what I think was a mental process which meant I slept very badly for several hours, dreaming that I was about to go into labour - vivid type dreams with 'real' labour signs, but none this morning.

Am due today, but fairly sure I recall that a show can be weeks early anyway, is that right?

Also meant, does this sound like a show? No pinkish colour

Anyone? Nothing since, shall I assume it wasn't a show?

I think it sounds like a show, a bit of one anyway. I had very similar yesterday morning (although not too large, about the size of a 50p), at 37+5. Nothing since. With DS I had a show that started off bitty like this, then turned into a good few days of near constant "gunk" - mixed with blood, some old but some bright red too. I really could not believe how much plug I was losing, way more than I had ever imagined. I was 8 days from the beginning of my show to contractions starting. I do think some people can lose bits of their mucous plug for weeks (and am hoping this is what will happen for me again as I have an ELCS booked in 8 days time, not keen on going into labour first!).

Oh, goodness, still I suppose everyone's different - am trying to avoid overdue/induction etc, so hoping for ASAP!

Thanks will keep eyes open!!

Sounds like a show, I had several days of lts of that before it really kicked off with both DS1 and DD1, then had DD2 and kept thinking I couldn't be in labour as I hadn't had a show.

Pootletrinket - in one of my baby books it distinguishes between vaginal discharge and a show. It's very common to experience increased vaginal secretions in the lead up to labour, which are usually a bit like egg white and can be pink tinged. It's an indicator that the cervix is softening.

A 'show' is usually bright red or brown mucus. It can indicate that labour is imminent, but equally can occur days/weeks before!

I don't know if that helps - only I kept getting myself over excited that I'd be going into labour any second, whereas learning that has helped me calm down a bit! Either way, it means you're heading in the right direction - here's hoping you don't have to wait much longer!

Thanks both - keeping walking/bouncing etc!!! Not really up for the curry or the sex, but maybe if it doesn't put in an appearance soon I might suck it up and cave in!!!

Had no blood in my show, didn't really know if it was a show or not was very whiteish like a big lump of discharge. In the end I googled 'show' and found a pic which wa just like mine. eeeerrgggggg. Had M/W appointment that day and she said I would go into labour within 24 hours, I asked if she was sure as my book also said you could have a show two weeks before birth, She basically said that was wrong. Had ds 12 hours later. so good luck

Thanks griphook (great name!) - now more than 24 hours, got MW appt today, so no doubt she'll start talking about sweeps next week....fingers crossed it'll be sooner than that!

I had what I think was a show last night and then again this afternoon - I did a wee, and then went to 'squeeze' a last bit out (otherwise I just need to go again 5 mins later) and felt something 'slither' out of my vagina (sorry ... Blush). When I wiped, there was a large (child's palm sized?) lump of 'snot' on the paper, and there were then several more wipe's worth. It was very yellow and thick, nothing like normal vaginal discharge, looked basically exactly like the snot you get at the height of a cold - pretty yellow, thick, jellyish. No blood in mine, though. Same again this afternoon, but less of it. No idea what that means in terms of going into labour - I'm 40+2 today.
