C-section and huge pants

piglit · 01/11/2005 10:09

I'm having my second section in about 3 weeks time and need to find some huge pants that won't sit on my scar. I had some when ds was born last year but threw them out. Can anyone recommend somewhere to get waist high massive pants? I tried M&S but they have obviously updated their image and they told me they don't do them anymore.

I got some in ASDA.

Prufrock · 01/11/2005 10:10

I just wore mothercare maternity knickers for 2 months post section

eleanorsmum · 01/11/2005 10:11

Got mine in BHS. very comfy after c section last year. buy next size than usual though as they are quite small sizing.

gloworm · 01/11/2005 10:12

why not use the dispossible knickers in a larger than usual size.

aloha · 01/11/2005 10:15

I thought disposables were rubbish, I'm afraid. Too tight (even in largest size), thin elastic that cut in, didn't come up high enough and just uncomfy. Maternity pants best IMO - soft cheap cotton ones. Or Primark.

I had to send dh out to Tesco for big knickers after my first unexpected c-section

Kelly1978 · 01/11/2005 10:27

agree with asda - cheap enough to throw away after use neway. stay away from disposables.

piglit · 01/11/2005 10:29

Thanks for your replies. I hate the disposable ones as well - I felt like I was wearing (tight) paper pants. I'll try Mothercare, Asda and Tesco. I don't want to be caught out like I was last time!

Now that's a great shame. I bought two packets of 5 very LARGE pants from M&S in the summer for £10.
Very comfy!

MrsDoolittle · 01/11/2005 10:32

Tescos do 2or3 in a packet for about £2 I think.
They do you for aslong as you need. I did that last time

MrsDoolittle · 01/11/2005 10:34

I found that Asda weren't as good as Tesco's. Not high enough.
Don't go for the value white ones, get a colour and they seem to be better quality.

piglit · 01/11/2005 10:36

Thanks MrsD. I'll give them a go.

actually remeber having tesco value knicks too. threw them away though as yuck! think they were £1 for two pairs. have to hunt for them in tesco extra but very good.

hockeymum · 01/11/2005 16:16

Don't know how to do a link, but my M & S still does big pants multipacks, called "full briefs" I got some for my last c-section and will use them again for max comfort. a five pack for £6 or 2 packs of 5 for £9 good value at the moment and they are very soft, big and comfy

Cheapo shops. Try Ethel Austin, if you have one (snap up some surprisingly fabulous kids' clothes too!) and Peacocks.

bundle · 01/11/2005 16:28

I used Mothercare maternity pants, massive and black, v alluring

Laura032004 · 01/11/2005 16:44

I used all my pre-birth maternity pants, and also bought loads of Asda ones. I wouldn't buy them that cheap, as I was wearing mine for a fair few months after the c/s.

Still not into the skimpy things I wore pre c/s They're all sat in a carrier bag at the bottom of my wardrobe reminding me what I used to be! Along with non-maternity / nursing bras! I tried one on yesterday. Felt too strange for words!

MrsDoolittle · 02/11/2005 14:07

Hokeymum - those are the ones I suggested too! I wearing mine now over my 25 week bump. Very comfy

hockeymum · 02/11/2005 15:07

Yes MrsDoolittle, trouble is I found them a bit TOO comfy and now have a habit thats hard to break! Still at least I'm pg again so have an excuse for another year or so!

Its a bit like AA isn't it? Hello my name is hockeymum and I love big pants!

Millie1 · 02/11/2005 17:29

I must be the only person who wears M&S bikini pants after a c-section! ... I put a sanitary towel (or similar) between them and scar for a few days but they don't really rub it tbh

laligo · 02/11/2005 17:33

my matalan ones did the trick. they are the size of buckinghamshire and cost £3.50 for 7 pairs (or something)

chonky · 02/11/2005 17:34

These are really good (they don't win any awards in the style stakes though!):

NCT knicks

MrsDoolittle · 04/11/2005 11:55

Eeeeew Chonky!!! We used to use them in hospital as disposable knickers! I felt sorry for the poor patients.

shhhh · 04/11/2005 22:28

I got knickers for after the birth (no cs but advised to wear/buy big knickers just in case..) Bought mine from Tesco..value brand for 60p..!! I think they may even be even cheaper now!! Now thats value ;0)

TicTacsMum · 04/11/2005 22:47

I just bought some tonight from Asda - a bargain at £1 for 3 pairs. Cheaper than disposable and much comfier.
