Slow, latent labour.. anyone else?

I've been contracting for days now, been checked out a couple of times, and contractions are actually doing stuff to my cervix, just veeery very slowly.

Yesterday I had contractions for 8 hours, starting regular at 4-5 minutes and getting up to 2 minutes apart by the end, strong enough to make me stop doing whatever I waas doing at the time.
The on-call midwife came to see me, then went home, telling me she can be with me within 10 minutes if things kick off.. she left, and with her, my contractions.
I am contracting again/still, but very irregularly at the moment.
I am so fed up, I want to cry

Anyone else in the same boat at the moment? Anyone been through this and have any idea how to speed things up? I'm pretty much peeing RLT, have taken copious amounts of EPO, my house stinks of clary sage and my nipples hurt. Too tired for sex, and my tongue isn't hard enough for 7 pineapples.

:(

I was a few weeks ago! I asked the MW to lie when she did my VE after 22 hours but she told me the truth (1cm) and I promptly burst into tears Blush. I was about 48 hrs latent phase with DD1 and 29 hrs with DD2. Active labour was 1 hr with DD1 and 5 hrs with DD2.

If you've got a birth ball then bouncing on that might help, or going for a walk. However, I'd be tempted to just relax, make sure you've had something to eat and drink and hope things don't go on much longer because long latent phases are exhausting and you'll need your energy. If it's any consolation it can go very quickly once it properly starts, I went from 2cm to fully dilated with DD1 in less than an hour. Good luck!

thank you...
the midwife told me yesterday to put the pool up because I had a quick labour last time, and today I kept feeling like it was putting added pressure on me, so I've taken it down, had a good sleep and decided that I'm going to ignore contractions unless they feel like they are going to lead to me having a baby.

Hopefully you are in full blown labour now or snuggling a baby. But if not, hang on in there!

Maybe try and have some baths/showers to get you nice and relaxed. Keep eating and drinking, put on a funny film, have a small glass of wine - just chill out. I wouldn't bother stomping about like crazy - you'll just tire yourself out. Ignoring them sounds like a very good plan!

You'll probably go nice and swiftly once your contractions regulate. I know it's really frustrating, but do whatever you can to stay rested, positive and relaxed.

Yes three times! However my active labours were 1.5, 2 and 1 hours [ grin]
