Hi all

First - sorry to post and run - will come back tomorrow I promise, so TIA!

I had an EMCS 2 and a bit years ago due to breech baby and waters started to leak.

I am pretty sure I would like an ELCS this time. Had a consultant appt a few weeks ago where they tried to convince me to VBAC. It was sort of left that I would think about things as was only 20 weeks, and consultant did say the words that if I was really set on a Csec they wouldn't turn me down.

Have since had a letter inviting me to a VBAC clinic - don't know if I have another consultant appt in the system or planned. Do you think I should call the midwife and find out the procedure? And is it worth me going to the VBAC clinic to show willing, even if I don't want to VBAC?!
thanks.

If you don't want to VBAC I wouldn't bother going, no, just because I think hospital staff have enough to do without giving an appointment to someone who does not need it.

You will have another consultant appointment, elcs are usually booked after you're in your third trimester. I'd just wait for that, and be firm.

I am having ELCS in August following an EMCS 2 years ago. I did go along to the 'VBAC' clinic. It's not called that here but the 'birth options clinic' which I think is much nicer! Even though I knew that I wanted ELCS, I did go to the clinic, partly to demonstrate to my consultant (I'd been before my first consultant's appointment) that I'd considered all my options and also to get more information about post-CS birth in general. The midwife was lovely and talked through lots of my issues following my first birth and the options for this birth. The consultant was happy to book me in for ELCS (I think that she would have done that whether I'd been to the clinc or not) and the midwife I saw is going to help me write my birth plan for the CS.

In general, I thought that it was useful and positive experience. I was a bit paranoid (not sure that's the right word) about being 'forced' to do things I did not want to do for this birth (VBAC, induction etc) but I've not had any difficulties at all.

thanks both. Am going to give midwife a call and just explain my thoughts and see what they say - i don't want to waste their time if my mind is made up, but am also worried about being forced to VBAC if i don't want to!
