I am 37 weeks with my 1st baby and as of last week baby was 3/5th engaged...Had an appointment with the registrar yesterday and baby is now un-engaged??...Confused

I thought that with 1st babies, once they have started to engage it's normally highly un-likely they will pop back out?? Do I just have a large, stretchy pelvis....Grin

Phew! Have to admit... i thought your post was about a relationship breakdonw!!!

Mine popped oujt....

Mine bounced around. She only got as far as 3/5 (so 2/5 into the pelvis) at most (had to go for a CS in the end, but that was after an early - failed - induction).

mine was engaged at 32 weeks and in a perfect LOA position.. and then at 34 weeks became unengaged and in a posterior position... don't know how it happened... maybe too much yoga and lying on my back... i am devastated...

lilly13- I'm also a bit of a yoga bunny, and a trained dancer- not sure if the flexibility down there has had anything to do with her being almost fully engaged a couple of wks ago and now unengaged?!

I know 'engagement' doesn't hold much bearing on when you will go into labour, it was just reasurring to know she was getting ready- oh well!

I've since found out that some people have too strong/tight a pelvic floor - especially those women who are hypermobile, horse riders, dancers, pilates fanatics....

hummm that's interesting japhrimel....

How did you come about that info??

I wonder if that means my labour is gonna be more difficult..Shock

Leila, if the head is engaged it is best to stop inversions (shoulder stand, headstand). If the baby is breach, inversions are beneficial. If the baby is in a perfect LOA or ROA position, but the head is not engaged, then one should do a lot of yogic squats and swim breaststroke, provided SPD is not an issue... If the baby is posterior, then one must crawl on hands and knees a lot and swim crawl (no lying or swimming on the back whatsoever); you wouldn't want the head to engage until the baby turns.. Hope things go well for you! I keep crawling on my hands and knees, but no luck so far Sad

Thank's lilly13- I will bear that in mind...

Think I'm gonna give the yoga a bit of a rest now, as only around 2 wks to go until due date and don't want to disturb things too much...Gonna stick to walking and gentle bouncing on the birth ball etc...

Got my next MW appointment soon, so will see whether there has been any change.
