I thought QC was shut? I had DS2 (11) there. The midwifery was really, really fab. All the medical care. After that it was shit, they left me alone with the baby, were mean when I asked them to mind him so I could have a shower, DH had to go out and see to our other kids and feed the meter, we spent about £28 in parking and he was constantly running out to see to the car.

As it was our 3rd we were chilled but I did leave after a shower as there was blood all over the floor and my placenta was left in the sink. I felt we were in danger of getting infections and would rather go home to our own dirt. However, looking back, I think I should have stuck around and gone on to a ward.

The midwifery was really great, but the after care was zero and I am glad that we were experienced and old enough to say "this is shite, we're off".

I would say, try QC but be stern in the beginning and make sure you go to a ward straight after birth. Keep an eye on hygiene and be vocal, I think the midwifery is worth it.

Queen Charlotte's, without a doubt. I gave birth there, and thought they were great. i have also been a birth partner at Chelsea, and thought: not so great.

I also worked for a long time in maternity services, and at that time QC was definitely considered superior for maternity care. i can't swear that is still the case, and i don't have any experience of private care at either hospital, but I know that at QC they have some really good leadership and a more evolved philosophy of care than at Chelsea.
