I'm having ID twins and am due to have cs early Sept at Yeovil Hospital. However, I know that if they are born 32 weeks or earlier then I can't have them there as the SCBU doesn't have the advanced equipment. dd1 tried to come at 32 weeks (3 years ago) and I was taken to Taunton and shown her cot in SCBU etc but they managed to stop it all. When in Taunton they told us we had the last cot in SCBU so I'm worried that I could be ferried around looking for 2 cots for my twins.

Realistically, how far do people get sent from home? Do you get any choice of preference?

I want what's best fot the babies, but think I might need to prepare myself for the worst so I can deal with it better.

A friend's waters went at 30+5 with twins in Bath they were sent to Southampton but on the way the cots were taken by 2 locally born babies so she ended up in Winchester. They had no option it was just where ever had capacity for babies at that gestation.

Thank you. I guess the worrying thing is that dd was born in 2 hours from waters going so they might not have a lot of time to move me! Hey ho, let's hope they stay put. I'll probably go to the 37 week csection and will have worried for nothing!

Even in London you get fun and games like this! I had PTL with DD2 at Kings College at 34 weeks, and they told me the nearest SCBU cot was Ashford in Kent - a good few hours away! Thankfully labour stopped, but it really does seem quite random sometimes :)

Maybe Derriford is another option if it comes to it for you?

Will google Derriford - no idea where it is so I'm guessing it's not nearby.

Okay, it's about 2 hours 45mins. We don't really have motorways down this way! Smile
