Dear All,

We have just moved to Chiswick and would like to know from mums if queens charlotte hospital is a good one for the birth of our 1st baby ? Is it easily accessible ? Can someone also recommend a good obstretican there - I have been recommended Dr. Mccarthy and Dr. Benett...Any feedback would be highy appreciated.

I have heard great things about Dr. Bennett. Not used him myself, but lots of people I know have, and they all say he is lovely and extremely competent. He's also a supporter of natural ELCS which is quite unusual for a doctor - i.e. he appreciates the more natural aspects of birth. I wish Queen Charlotte was closer to me, but it's just that little bit too far or I'd be there.

I had a great experience at Queen Charlotte's. I was on the private ward as I was mostly covered by my bupa policy as I was expecting identical twins. My consultant was Dr Ruwan Wimalasundera, who is a multiple birth specialist, he was brilliant.

Let me know if you have any further questions Smile Congratulations aswell!

Professor Bennett is fantastic, I can't recommend him highly enough.

Queen Charlotte's probably one of the top maternity hospitals in the country, and it is so easy to get to from Chiswick. There are a couple of regular buses from there which will drop you right outside the main entrance or its about 10 minutes in the car. Although there isn't much parking at the hospital, I haven't had a problem finding a space if you use the carpark furtherst away near the stadium behind the hospital.

Congratulations too on your pregnancy.

Sumi, congratulations. I attended Mr McCarthy in QC's twice, first in 2008 and secondly just over a year ago for the birth of my DC's, I cannot recommend him highly enough, lovely manner and very attentive and reassuring during both births. The hospital itself is very highly regarded. Good luck.

Congratulations. I had DD1 by ELCS at Queen Charlotte's last year, and having DD2 by ELCS back there next week! Mr Kumar has looked after me both times, he's fantastic and I cannot recommend him highly enough.

It's also WELL worth asking if you can get yourself on the one to one midwife scheme, I was for DD1 and it was brilliant. Not sure what the criteria is though....
