Has anyone used a La Bassine birthing pool? Think I prefer it to the Birth Pool In A Box.

I used the www.madeinwater.co.uk pool for my home birth ? it was fabulous and I think because of the pool I had no other pain relief. I very much enjoyed the experience and it was well worth the money. The size of the pool was great and portability was excellent as we only have a small house, actually I don?t think I could have had a big pool in the house without taking out half the furniture!

Thanks, Gisou - lovely to hear! We've not got a massive house either (will need some rearrangement of furniture!) - just got to work out how best to fill it now!

I have the made in water pool for my homebirth... whether I get to use it or not remains to be seen.

I test inflated it on saturday and it's lovely and big and with an electric pump inflates in a couple of mins.

In fact it was so comfy once inflated, dh came home from work to find me sitting in it watching tv!

This is probably a really silly question but how do you empty it afterwards? (buckets?)

Gisou · 31/10/2005 22:19

buckets, lots of them. DH done it in 30mins, no big deal he said. Some people bought a submersible water pump that i think cost around £30 or a little bit more and is very quick.

We really didn't mind about the buckets, the pool in the middle of our small living room and the other kids around and what have you, it was all part of this wonderful natural birth. I wouldn't change a thing.
