Curious...

Am 29 weeks, getting anxious about the birth. Was in labour for 4 days with 1st and considering a CS? Is it too late to ask? What is the experience like having a CS? How many weeks do they perform a CS?

Thanks

Hi, I've had 3 sections, the first was an emergency one, (scar from navel down) and so i had to have sections for my second and third child. I do not know any other way of having a baby, and for all three the post recovery was completely normal. No problems at all, I was in hospital for 5 days each time. Restricted driving for 6 weeks, and no heavy lifting, although I expect lifting a toddler was considered heavy! Its not a problem if you follow the rules they give you afterwards even if you think they are daft, they are there for a reason.

I think you can ask for an elective section if you are really that bothered about the birth, and of course its worrying - but I expect they will try and persuade you out of it - discuss it with your midwife - especially if you get on well and ask her for her honest opinion - put if on your birth plan?

Good luck....

Oh yes as previous ladies have said the actual section is a bit like having someone 'wash up' inside you. It does not hurt as you are under anesthetic, but you are moved around and yep I had the surgeons elbows under my ribs to get the baby out. Bit strange but no pain.

I agree with performance girl, it depends on the person and it may not be ideal, some bits you may not remember too well. Does depend on surgeon too - mine very good and I remember midwife saying 'oh good, no puckering'! I was pleased as in those days I had ideas of still wearing a bikini...It is major surgery so if you do go ahead with CS look after yourself and get lots of help if pos. Don't try to be wondermum, we are wonderful anyway (I tell myself as I battle those teenage years)...'Only lift the weight of the newborn baby', a pearl of wisdom there..
