V embarrassed TMI problem after having a big baby...

DD2 is 7 weeks

I think I have a bit of a prolapse

towards the end of the day, or if i've been standing for a long time I get a sort of heavy feeling, like there's a tampon that's going to fall out.
It's like the front wall is sagging from being stretched so much

I've been doing my pelvic floors and am loosing weight. I haven't seen the doctor yet for my 6week check - have that tomorrow, and I'm already worrying about what I'm going to say about it, I'm so embarrassed, but I must say something or it'll get worse won't it

I had a second degree tear and a lot of stitches, and DD2 was 10lb3oz of back to back baby all the way out so I guess some problems were inevitable. What will the doctor say? just do more pelvic floors? or is there something they can actually do? Has anyone else had this? Does this mean I'm destined for tena lady in later life?

mortified about posting this but I really need to hear from someone else who's had this...

Don't be mortified

I didn't have a bid baby 2nd time (1st time was a CS), but did spend far too many hours pushing. I had exactly the feeling you describe for months - its your pelvic floor not being strong enough to keep everything up. Keep doing those exercises and talk to the doc as well.

big, doh

Cattleprod · 30/03/2011 11:28

DS was 10lb 4oz and I remember that 'heavy' feeling lasting for several weeks, although everything was fine at the 6 week check. Get the doc to have a look tomorrow just to reassure you.

I've not needed a tena lady though, and I've even been on a trampoline with no accidents!!!

the heavy feeling does get better imo. but do keep up with the pelvic floors, i was a bit lax (!!)

I had a tiny baby 6lbs but pushed for hours, i ended up and it's now 8 yrs later, with a slight prolapse of front wall, but apparently not worthy of treating. I had a 2nd degree too.

What you are experiencing is normal and it will take time, but i sympathise with how horrid that falling out feeling is. I had spd too, bit of a dou;ple whammy and it took a long time for me to not feel that dragging feeling, because i was all floppy in the tendons and ligaments anyway.

I found i had that feeling even worse when i got my periods. Yet it got better, and better over time.

good luck with your check up.

thankyou all, very reassuring!

Everything felt normal again within a couple of weeks of having DD1, I didn't have any stitches etc so feeling so different this time has been a bit of a shock.

it is a shock, you can never know how it will go.
i am sure in time your body will heal x

hi RobynLou
I had a similar feeling for a number of weeks after giving birth to my DS. I bought some 'mini' weights for the pelvic floor as I would forget to exercise this myself. Best thing I have bought myself for quite sometime! Can definitely feel an improvement and it has only taken a few weeks! Also my DH has commented too, he he!! Good luck.

RobynLou · 31/03/2011 16:51

where did you get them from babbilicious?

been for my checkup today and I have a bit of an infection in my stitches Sad

I know exactly what you mean. I think it is the back to back that gives you that feeling though, not the weight alone.

DC2 was 9lb, back to back, and I felt how you describe and worried about the same thing as you.

DC3 was 10lb, but the right way round, and he came out much easier, more quickly, and I suffered no ill effects. A couple of health professionals have told me that the head size doesn't tend to get much bigger - born out (excuse the pun) by DC3 having the same head circumference as DC1 who was only 7lb 13.

So, in your situation I think it may be the back to back element that has affected you.

It took me months and lots of pelvic floor exercises to get back to normal, but I am, and have been ever since, including through subsequent pg and delivery. Except when I go on the trampoline I need to pee.

I also found going to the loo difficult - in case you have that trouble too. Eat prunes!

WHat did your doctor say today?

blondieminx · 31/03/2011 22:56

Hope your check went ok today? Give the pelvic floor excercises another couple of weeks and then if things still don't feel right then do ask your GP to refer you to a gynaecologist.
