Consultant appointment on tues - will they agree to a elcs?

I'm having my 36 week consultant appointment on Tuesday to discuss birth options. I had a emcs with ds due to failure to progress and him being left OP (sorry if I mix up terminology)
I want another c section.
Will they agree? (southmead hospital Bristol if that makes a difference)

My reasons are...
I found it incredibly traumatic last time as I really wanted a vb and hadn't considered the possibility of emcs. I was told ds was perfect position all way through pregnancy- yet after several mw looking at how dilated etc I was it was eventually spotted he was left OP. This was after 7+h of epidural and max hoone dose to get me to dilate.
Even after all the hormones I still didn't get past 8cm.
Ds was big 8lb10 but measured average all way through pg. this one is now measuring slightly large.
I'm pretty sure I had mild PND because of my birth experience. I didn't get any medical help as I think I didn't realise how bad I was till I came out of it again.

No one has given me any reasons to think I won't have a repeat performance so I want to stick with what I know.

Will they agree?

Thanks for reading- didn't mean it to get so long! :)

I had emergency c section with first child, a huge 10 pounder and a brow presentation, all this after a long labour. I suffered with PND i think, but i didnt seek any help at time as i just thought it was shock of being a mum. I was also against having any more children because i didnt feel i could go through the same again. Anyway i did indeed become pregnanat again 7 and half years later and when i discussed my fears regarding natural birth. ie if i could or should as obviously i didnt want a repeat performance, my obstretrician said that she couldnt see that the same would happen as it was a very rare complication, but if the thought was as traumatic as it evidently was to me,( tears from me etc!! ) then she would perform an elective section. Phew and my fears were well founded as when they did deliver my daughter, I was told I had made the right decision as the scar in my utereus was under great stress and could have ruptured resulting in all sorts of problems. Hope i havent waffled on, but what i want to say is go with your gut feeling and really tell them how you feel and your fears etc. Good luck, hope you get the outcome you want.

Oh thanks! I'm getting a bit nervous about it. Hope I don't cry! Blush

Hi Soppy,

Had a very similar experience to you first time around and had an appointment to discuss delivery a few weeks ago and got the answer I wanted.

I started this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/childbirth/1172471-Consultant-app-this-Friday-the-CS-argument (hope that works) and got some excellent advice that I think paid off.

Good luck!

Actually it was all fine! I had steeled myself for an argument, had my list in case I went to pieces etc.
The consultant asked what I wanted, I said elcs please and he signed my book! Job done!
I am very pleased and titch is arriving 20th april! Grin
