Sorry this is prbably the wrong place for this.

I know my DD was a SGA at 39+1 she was 5lb 13oz.

However my DS seems very big for gestational at 36+4 he was 6lb 3oz.

Could this mean he wasn't actually as early as I am thinking could my dates have been wrong?

The only reason I am asking is because I am pregnant again and really worried about going into labour early again and I have also signed up for the OPPTIMUM trial due to this, and I am now worried this is probably a waste of time and worry.

Hi nunnie my ds was born at 36+3 and weighed 7lb 3oz! People also kept asking, including the hospital staff, whether I had my dates right but I assume so as I only had one period in 8 months therefore I'm guessing I did! I think babies just come when they're 'cooked' and ready to come out of the oven! unless you've had any problems during the pregnancy I don't think you can predict whether they will make an early it late appearance :-)

I had non-ID twins (i.e. separate placentas) at 37 weeks, one was 7lb and the other was 4lb 15oz. So even with exactly the same conception date, uterine environment, diet etc they can be totally different. They were different sizes from the first scan (at 6w4d) and now at 17 months are still completely different sizes and body shapes.

DD was born at 36weeks and was 6lbs 15oz. I may have had gestational diabetes (was never clinically diagnosed) and did have pre-eclampsia, but we also have big babies in both my and my husband's families.

Despite breastfeeding well with no issues, she has only just this week exceeded her birth weight (she lost 200g), but she is a very healthy, alert and strong little girl despite her gestation.

Thank you everyone, I think I am just clutching at straws. I am pregnant again and was hoping to have an ELCS but with DS coming early was worried about going into labour before so was trying to find a reason why this won't happen then I can move on to number2 on my list of worries Wink.

DS was perfectly healthy apart from jaundice but they said that could have been due to the amount of bruising as he was a brow presentation.
