Worrying? No period since DS's birth 18 months ago

Should I be worried? Or is it normal? I've seen people say anything from 1 to 12 months but never longer.

Info in case it's relevant....

2 DC, got pg when first was 9m with no period in between Blush oops

DS demand bf, back to work fulltime when he was 10m but he made up for this a night until we night weaned in Jan. He now feeds 2x a day, more at weekends if he gets a chance .

I occasionally get what I think are period pains but that's it.... Oh, also I had a copper coil fitted last April (not making that mistake again!).

I am worrying for nothing aren't I??

(also I bought a mooncup just before bfp with DC1 and I want to try it out )

mine took 17 months to return after having ds2.

I also vaguely remember a few people saying the coil dramatically affected their periods but i think I may be thinking of the Mirena and not the copper.

Are you sure they didn't put in the mirina coil rather than the cooper coil.

I didn't have a period for the 3 years while I had the mirena in.
Cooper coils are meant to make you bleed more heavily than normal.
I would go to the dr if you worried.

It could be because you are still BF, I know its not on demand, but I didn't get my periods back till I stopped BF completely.

Thanks for the replies, it's good to know someone else hasn't had them for more than a year after birth.

It is definitely a copper one.... I had to get it myself from pharmacy with prescription, I still have the "instruction" leaflet and the Drs had a whole conversation about how it is different to fit... but I confess I have been to double/triple check the leaflet Grin.

I might mention it to Dr/nurse when I next see them. Thanks again!

If you're still breastfeeding then it's probably that - I know someone who didn't get her periods back for a good year after she completely stopped bfing.

A whole year after stopping feeding Shock
thanks rita!

I guess the mooncup will have to wait then.... on a slight tangent- anyone know if coil / mooncup combo is ok? I vaguely remember reading that the 2 might interfer with each other Confused purely academic question for now though....

I think you'd have to be careful to break the suction before pulling the mooncup out to avoid sucking the coil out too...

Confused Shock Grin

Thanks Rita.....shall bear that in mind
