Water Birth- did you still tear??

...Just curious to know, whether those of you that gave birth in water still tore??

I laboured with my DS in the water for about 3 hours - in hindsight I relaxed too much, the water had an amazing effect so much so that I didn't even need gas & air. The upshot was that I really wasn't pushing properly and I had a fairly timid (suspect newly qualified) midwife who didn't cotton on to the fact I wasn't pushing effectively. I ended up being pulled out to give birth as DS HR was starting to drop - at that point I had no tear but new midwife gave me an Episiotomy - DS was only 5lb 4 oz so dont think I would have torn if I'd had him in the water. I've 3 weeks to go until DD arrives and hoping for water birth - this time I will be really pushing!!

yes, twice (both my DC were born in the birthing pool)!

No, it was amazing

yes, 2nd degree tear but water was brill and would definitely want another water birth if I have any more.
