i've had a bit of lower backache this time but as with DS it's only been when I've been on my feet for a while and always been relieved when I sit/lie down. Backache came on last night and has been coming and going all night, coupled with stomach pains and a feeling of pain/pressure on my cervix- nothing major, but enough to notice. It didn't wake me at all but everytime I woke up (frequent toilet visits!) it was there. could this be labour??

i'm 38 weeks BTW, and have ELCS booked next weeks so I'm very aware of needing to tell the hospital asap if things have started!

It sounds like your pelvis ligaments are loosening as your LO engages TBH, but this can happen at almost any point.

baby has been engaged for a few weeks now... I think that's what causing the pressure on my cervix. It's the backache and theh fact it's coming waves coupled with a feeling of tightening that's making me wonder....!

Is your uterus getting hard with each wave? If so, I think it's time to call the hospital. Sorry - missed the mention of tightenings.

I think you should give the hospital ring , that does sound very similar to the onset of labour I had with DD.

japhrimel i don't think i said it! Yes, it's getting hard but it's not painful as such so i don't know if it's just BH, or even just baby stretching - so bloody hard to tell. With DS I had a sweep and that was that! The backache has eased slightly although still feels tight so I'll see how it goes this morning. Currently bathing a poo-covered toddler and then might go for a walk. I've said I'll attempt VBAC if labour starts before ELCS so no tearing hurry. I wish there was some way of knowing for sur!

Oh okay, if you're good to go for a VB, I wouldn't bother with the hospital - unless you want to go for a CTG (really wouldn't recommend it even if it does mean you can get the tightenings measured!).

Going for a walk and chilling out sounds like a plan.
