At the 20 week scan i had an anterior placenta..now here's the daft question...can it move? I'm now 34 weeks and contemplating birth and wondering if the placenta can move to a bad position as the pregnancy develops? Just wondering....does anyone know?

Usually if it goes anywhere, it goes up! It doesn't really "move" as such - more like the uterus expands so its position appears to shift as things get stretched out.

Pretty sure they don't go down!

Anterior means it's attached to the front of you uterus rather than the back. The placenta moves a bit as your uterus grows (imagine putting a dot on a half-inflated balloon then blowing it up). The main concern with placental position is previa (low lying) which they would have flagged up as a concern at the 20 week scan if they've identified this.
HTH.

It's only a scan around 34-36 weeks that can really identify if placenta position is going to be an issue. The balloon description by Rosebud05 is perfect! By the 34-36 week period your balloon of a uterus is fully inflated at the bottom too.

No, it won't move down. The only way is up.
