Question re: presentation

Right....

after DS (emcs) - I had a debrief with a midwife, and I've also recently seen the supervisor of midwives to discuss plans for this birth - I've decided on ELCS and it's scheduled for two weeks time.

Anyway - I ummed and ahhed quite a bit about whether to go for VBAC as both of the midwives said that my labour notes suggested DS was back to back, common problem in first labour, cause of most of the problems I had delivering, unlikely to happen again yadda yadda. i.e. it was pretty much down to DS's position and nothing to do with my anatomy or whatever.

I came across my discharge notes this morning and it said that DS's presentation during the c-section was 'normal - OA' - correct me if I'm wrong but that means occipital anterior - so he wasn't back to back at all, and they should have known this had they read my notes.

Am now feeling mightily relieved at my decision to go for ELCS as it now appears DS's position may not have been a contributing factor at all!

Can someone confirm that's what OA means? And would it be possible for DS to have suddenly turned prior to section?

The MW at the time may just have assumed his presentation was normal, but in hindsight the signs point to him being back to back?

Yes Sarah, that's what happened, but the c-section notes confirm he wasn't actually back to back despite signs pointing that way.... odd child!

Most OP babies do eventually turn before birth. It could be that you had anOP labour but at some point after your last VE and your EMCS your baby turned to OA.
