Would you buy a bag which had all the necessary items (for mum/baby/dad!) you need to take to hospital when you go into labour?

Any thoughts???

Would you be happy to buy the bag if the toiletries (shampoo/deodorant/shower gel) was not a well known make?

No it would have to be known brands for me to buy it, and i'd rather be able to select from a list which i can do at Boots online already! plus top up with my own things...

meditrina · 02/03/2011 11:57

I wouldn't have done. Although there are some items that more or less everyone takes, I think most of them are ones you'd want to choose yourself, or already own.

you're so keen for opinions you've posted this on two boards? if you're after market research, pay a focus group.

AKMD · 02/03/2011 13:03

No. I;ve seen these bags around and they don't have very muhc stuff - you would definitely need to top-up with your own bits and pieces. Mind you, my suitcase bag was for a week's stay in the end.

Coraltoes you are very cynical!! Im just a mum of 3 thinking about ideas, thats all!!

absolutely not. you pay through the nose for stuff you won't need and will be missing stuff you do. This is not the time to experiment with different brands etc. someone was (trying) to flog these at the baby show for £350!!!!

givemespace · 02/03/2011 22:13

no id rather make my own. I mean, i wouldnt go on holiday with a prepacked suitcase!

Anyway, ignore others who say u shouldnt be posting here, its an open forum and if youve got a potential business idea (altho im not sure about this one) to help you out then good on you!

Hi Trixie - thanks for your feedback. I was not thinking of a hugely expensive bag, if you think about the money you spend on all the stuff you need to take to hospital for you and baby if the pre packed bag cost similar price with known brand products and post labour necessities would it be of interest?

I can see the big discussion is whether people essentially prefer to buy themselves. But if the bag contains everything you would buy then isn't that similar to buying it yourself but you're just not physically picking from the shelves?!?!

Thanks again for taking the time to respond! It's really good to hear mums thoughts!

The other is thing is to be able be v competitive on price and catering for c-sec mummies. Not sure anyone can compete with £1 night shirt and £2.50 for 5 big pants from Primark. Also, Tesco and Asda are v cheap for disposable essentials eg maternity pads. It is a pain having to traipse around town for these things but I would rather save the cash than go for convenience.
