The worst thing about wkaing up to feed DS is that I am always drenched with sweat and then I get out of bed and instantly feel freezing cold and clammy.

I don't even feel hot in bed - just wet!

I can't remember how long this goes on for - can anyone tell me???

2-3 weeks I think.

Are you sleeping on a towel? I found I sweated less sleeping on a towel than straight onto a sheet, and it absorbed it better.

It is yucky, but it will pass.

Oh it's awful isn't it. I had to change in the middle of the night most nights. I'm afraid it lasted over a month for me. Still quite sweaty at 5 months post partum.

About a week for me and no clue it would happen, it came as a bit of a shock! My poor swollen feet soon shrank back though.

Aaaaaagh! I hated this and had no idea it would/could happen, and still when I mention it to the other mums from my group, they have no clue what I'm talking about!!Doesn't help that you have to wear all your underwear too for various padding (be it boobs or down below). Mine lasted about 2 weeks, and I used to feel so sorry for DH sleeping next to someone who felt as though they'd just come out the shower. Eeeeuch! I agree with Alibaba, sleeping on a towel (or 2) helps alot.

On the upside, you're losing lots of pregnancy weight with minimum effort hee hee!

5 weeks for me...ick. Bled for 8 weeks too. All fine at 9 weeks though!

I had no idea it was normal to have night sweats so it makes perfect sense that I have been waking with damp hair/nape of my neck. Doesn't happen every night but did last night and DD2 is just over 3 weeks old. I was very warm throughout pregnancy too and didn't even require my usual hot water bottle in the middle of the terribly cold weather.

WishIWasRimaHorton · 25/02/2011 10:04

i am afraid mine lasted the whole time i was bf'ing. i soaked a towel above and below me every night. i went to the GP and had blood tests done and even had a lung xray to rule out TB (!). but nothing. i bf'd DS for a year - it was grim!! i had to wash the bedding every single night and threw away the duvets as they were stained so badly (in spite of sleeping between towels). also soaked through the towel and the mattress protector and rotted the mattress.

9 weeks and still sweating like a bull every night! Horrid! Never got it at all with first pregnancy.

stitchmeup · 26/02/2011 10:26

Another one who didn't expect it! Mine is just my legs so feels like I've wet the bed! Starting to get better, birth was 2 weeks ago.

Bumperlicious · 26/02/2011 10:36

DD2 is 5 months and I still had to change my pjs when she woke up last night!
