Clexane/APS and Home From Home Unit?

Has anyone with APS and/or on clexane been told they can deliver in a home from home unit or can anyone think of a reason I can't or how I can 'argue' my case?

I hadn't considered it tbh, but a midwife suggested it might suit me when I was at the hospital today, but then said she wasn't sure as I was on clexane and the decision would be with the HFH unit manager.

According to the haematologist, clexane doesn't significantly increase the liklehood of PPH or excessive bleeding at the birth. Plus, I have already had five DC naturally with no problems at all, so surely that must go in my favour?

Does anyone have any experience of this please?

Is the home from home unit on the same site as the main maternity unit?

If the HFH manager averse to perceived risks, I'd ask the haematologist you've seen to put in writing that claxane doesn't significantly increase the risks to bleeding of any form at birth, and therefore does not affect your eligibility for birth at the HFH unit. It might also be worth talking to the Head of Midwifery and discussing their concerns - you can always refer them back to the haematologist.

If you feel that the risk profile of the HFH unit is better for you than the maternity unit and they don't want to let you in, you can try tell them that in that case they'll be supporting you at home instead. (Whether you choose to stay there when you're in labour is a completely different question...) AIMS may also be able to help.

Fingers crossed for you, and I hope you have a good outcome :)

(ps - I've sent you a pm as well Wink)
