Coping with Induction Labour

I have recently been admitted to hospital for the remainder of my pregnancy with pre-eclampsia. The liklihood is that I will be induced around 37 to 38 weeks if not before.

I had been planning for a birth in the Midwife Led Unit, so this is very different from what I had been gearing myself up for.

If you had an induction, can you let me know how you coped with the pain and the entire Labour. Obviously, the latent stage is in hospital, rather than at home, so not as much room to move around, have a bath and generally keep yourself calm.

Also, did you have your own room or were you on a ward for the first bit?

I am mid induction with pessaries at 42 + 2. Not much progress yet. Tbh even though I was booked into the midwife unit and was planning the whole low lights, pool style birth, if they told me now I was off to theatre for a cs I'd be thrilled. I just want to meet my baby and take her home.

Since this thread popped up again, I thought that I should come back and let you know that in the end I was induced at 36 weeks due to my worsening condition.

In the end I would say it was a good experience. 9 hours from first pessary to birth and 5 hours from my waters breaking. Had gas and air only and in the end DH only arrived with 20 minutes to go as I progressed so quickly, my txt messages to him from the delivery room make amusing reading!

I was able to keep active throughout except for brief periods of monitoring.
