had a show having contractions but how long is this bit?

this is my first and im 5 days overdue
i had a show yesterday 3am,lost my plug then been having intermittent contractions all day and still am today. they are strong but obviously need to get them few minutes apart before i can go to the hospital.
im just wondering how long these irregular contractions could go on for? can it be for days? even though im not doing much physically i feel so tired& wondering how im going to manage when the bigtime comes!
the pain is scaring me already.
anybody else experiencing anything similar?

wow. reading all that made me cry. You are amazing and so is your baby. I wish you a very speedy recovery and hope that you both soon be home to heal from the trauma. hugs xx

thanxx for all the psitive messages.this is a very slow recovery but everyday a bit better.i cant walk or hardly have muchh energy&only spent a precious hour with my babygirl since she was born on sunday.i miss her so much.still in NICU.
I dont want to scare anyone out there but just make sure u see a midwife anytime u feel worried something isnt right.and INSiST OR JuSt go to the hosptial even if they say no! I feel i wasnt informed enough as a first timer.i had no problems during my pregnancy apart from hyprememsis at the beginning&once labour started everything was going well.it took ONE second for that to change but it was the steps before it tht may have led to this almost fatal experience.
All you mothers to be with your precious cargo, take care.everyone of them is a miracle xx
