Forceps and episiotomy second time around?

I had a forceps birth with DS and have healed without a problem fortunately. In any subsequent pregnancy how likely is it I will need assistance and another episiotomy? Does it have implications for future pregnancies?

Thank you

Bump for more... in order to help decide if DD will be an only child!!

Forceps birth with DD2 (VBAC), infected stitches in second degree epi/tear.

Had a tiny episiotomy with DD3, as the scar tissue from DD2's birth just wouldn't stretch the extra bit needed to get her out. Two stitches, no problem at all. No forceps, ventouse or any other instrumental help.

Both children had mahoosive heads (99th centile for DD2, 97th for DD3).

I too had forceps, epidural and the works for number 1 but number 2 and 3 came out fine. you can get perineum oil and try massaging for months before birth which can help too.

Vetouse + 10lb back to back baby with first but epi healed well with no probs. I'm thinking about ttc #2 so will be watching with interest. Also seriously considering taking up smoking as told babies only get bigger! Wink

Ventouse + episiotomy for 8lb 10 number 1, second baby 9lb 6 oz, did tear (she was born with her elbow by her ear) but no need for other assistance, needed stitches, but otherwise fine. No need for any pain relief apart from TENS machine with number 2 (ended up having spinal with number 1 when they realised ventouse was necessary)

Episiotomy and ventouse for first (long labour, big baby, bad presentation). 2nd baby normal vaginal delivery, small cut to prevent tear of scar tissue. Lovely delivery! (No more for me though).

I did wonder what happened about the scar tissue but am reassured now thank you.
