Didn't know whether to post this in pregnancy or childbirth!
DC2 is due on 19Feb but this morning I had a small amount of mucus and have had pinkish stains all day. Have also had tightening of my tummy although irregular and not very painful.
Baby seems to have been moving around just fine but I'm wondering if this is the start of labour?
If so, when am I likely to go into proper labour?
Can't believe I can't remember from last time! :)

It's different evert time so don't try to compare.

I think it's supposed to be a sing it will happen soon but some get the "show" a week before so not an exact science. I didn't get one with dd... mind you I didn't get proper contractions until the end and only new I was in labout as waters broke.

Good luck!

Mumbybumby · 05/02/2011 18:47

Thanks! Didn't realise it could be a week later! Think I'm more anxious this time round as there's more to sort out (DD)! So I don't need to worry about there being blood then?

May be a sign that things are moving in the right direction but you will drive yourself mad waiting lol!

I'd watch some Saturday telly, have a bath, go about my normal business until you notice anything significantly progressing. It'll either happen sooner or may be a while to wait. If tomorrow morning nothing has happened I'd get on as normal...as long as your bag is packed / DC1 has care arranged (assuming you're going into hospital) then the rest is in natures hands!!

Thats not to say its easy to TRY to get on as normal when every twinge and toilet trip has your full attention...!! And I think most of us forget from last time round so you're not alone! Really hope its a progressive night for you!!!! Smile

X

Thanks, clouiseg you're right about it driving me mad! Had a very long labour last time and am keeping my fingers crossed it won't be as long this time but am checking constantly and everytime I get a contraction it reminds me!
DP is due to go to a meeting 2-3 hours away, all day on Tuesday so I'm hoping it'll happen before then!
Time for some Saturday night telly rubbish then! :)

If its any comfort my first labour was 38 hours. My second was 6 hours start to finish so have faith in your body...it knows what its doing better this time round!

If you notice anything happening by Tuesday is there any way he can cancel? You know that sods law predicts that your waters will break halfway through the meeting lol. x

Mumbybumby · 05/02/2011 19:42

Ha ha exactly what I was thinking! Am feeling better that your second was 6 hours after your epic first birth - my first was 36 hours so fingers crossed it's a bit quicker this time!
Another thing I'd forgotten is how much the bloody contractions hurt! Am going to be a wreck by the time baby's ready to come out!

Corrrrrr I hear that! Am expecting my 4th and have some whopping BHs even at 26 weeks so can't WAIT for the real ones Shock!

Mind you if it were that bad we wouldnt do it again eh? lol

Hope the Saturday telly is keeping you busy!

Mumbybumby · 06/02/2011 05:47

Hey, thanks for your kind words - looks like I needn't have worried as DS was born at 12.45am! Didn't even get a chance to watch take me out!
Beat of luck with your number 4 (crazy lady!) DP is already talking about number 3 so here's hoping I forget about the pain again. . .! X

Wow congratulations you don't hang about

clouiseg · 07/02/2011 00:28

Woohoooooo thats fantastic news!! See, the fact that I prescribed a night of Saturday viewing was obviously that bad that you had to go and give birth instead!! hahaaaaa! (Making a mental note for my due date to pre arrange telly night..!)

Honestly though, congratulations and WELL DONE!! Grin

Pleeeeeease let me know if you had a boy or girl, weight, how it was etc! Love the details before you hop over to the mummies threads!!

All the very best! X

clouiseg · 07/02/2011 09:24

Ummm just read again...saw the DS this time lol...sorry! x

Mumbybumby · 07/02/2011 18:05

Ah thanks clouiseg The birth was great, midwife fantastic and gas and air much needed!
Went in at about 10pm and he was born at 12.45 (apparently second part of labour took 13 minutes, according to my notes?! Shock -much better than last time)
DP's hands took some serious crushing and DS arrived weighing 6lbs 12.5oz (which I'm rather glad about!).
Thanks for your supportive words - am now into realms of daytime tv which is even worse than sat night!
Drop me a pm and let me know how everything goes for you, if you have a chance!
Good luck! X

Ahhhhhh go you!! Yeaaaaahhh! Now all worries of uber-long labours will be replaced by the sprint that was little mans birth!! lol. Its amazing how our bodies adapt to remember what to do isnt it!

Well I hope you are feeling well and that the daytime tv is as fulfilling as the evenings (although I suspect if telly was THAT good we wouldnt all be preggers would we?? lol!!)

Keep lurking in between sleepless nights and lengthy feeds!! And again, well done! I'll let you know how things progress (although I hope mines a little late - I honestly dont have time to give birth until AT LEAST my due date lol!!)
