TENS Machine - worth it and if so which one?

Hello

I am 28 weeks with DC1 and starting to think about the birth rather a lot (probably not helping myself by watching OBEM!). Anyway, a friend has recommended that I hire a TENS machine as she found it helpful during the early part of her labour (she ended up with an epidural at about 6cm so can't really tell me whether it would have continued to help past that point.

I just wondered if anyone could share their experience of a) whether it helped and b) if so which model did you use?

Many thanks!

Strangeways is right - buy if you plan more kids. Check ebay - and if it doesn't work for you, you can always re-sell. TENS was all I had with DS2!

I bought mine from ebay. It wasn't much more than hiring it once. I've used it for 2 births and loaned it out to 3 friends, although 2 didn't use it in the end. It's on standby for dc3 due at the end of May. You have to buy new pads each time it is used, but they are pretty cheap. It was well worth it

As for did it work, I have no idea, but I wasn't going to take it off to find out!
