DS they were not too bad only when I fed him. DD they were just as bad as the cc I had just before giving birth and lasted all day and then started to get better the next day.

I also noticed they seemed to get worse if I was near her or agony if I was holding her so much so that I was unable to hold her unless feeding. Has anyone else noticed them getting worse if they pick up thier babies?

Also how much worse are they on a third?

Cripes! Well, I would obviously say they do get worse with every child! DC3 was bloody awful but only lasted a couple of days and certainly were worse when holding/feeding. DC4 was fecking awful again: very intense, but only for about 3 days. With DC3 I had diclophenac (sp??!) which helped;ish..

I will say that my uterus seems to contract el rapido, and that to remember that with each pain, your womb is just trying to get back where it belongs!!
Afterpains are a sod though. especially when you're just trying to chill and feed, instead writhing around akin to labour all over again, being knackered all whilst feeding with some groaning and tears..

Good luck with your birth and after! Smile

I found them far worse than labour.
I'm not even 12 weeks yet with DC3 & already whimpering at the thought of them.

Co-codamol's available otc - no need to lie to a GP to get some!

IS it really japhrimel my gp is about the most over cautious gp ever. He wont say ibuprofen is okay when BF but I at least know he wont give me anything harmful. I will get DP to buy some I am not so worried now thanks all Smile

I had barely any afterpains with no 1, excrutiating afterpains with no 2 (really bad, could not believe it). I was prepared for the same after no 3, and they were not too bad at all .... perfectly bearable. Weird.
