Washing CS scar

I had ds3 6 days ago.
When I bath or shower, I sort of swoosh the scar with water, then after, gently dry it with a clean towel.
Tonight, after I dried it, the towel smelt a bit (sorry, tmi)
The scar looks and feels absolutely fine, but should I be using something to wash it with?
I haven't used soap on it, and have avoided directly touching it, as it stings.
Any advice?
(sorry if this is in the wrong place!)

I was told to only use water not soap. If you are concerned is your midwife still visiting? Might be worth whipping it out for her to have a look.

When I had a section I got some Boots dry baby wipes in my bounty pack, I used them to just dab the wound dry after using plain water to clean it. Keep a close eye on it, because if it's started to smell, there might be a bit of an infection brewing. Get your midwife to have a look and make sure it's ok, she will be able to advise.

I used a hairdryer to dry mine as I think it not being completely dry can also cause it to smell - especially if you have an overhang as I did. Sea salt in your bathwater will also help it to heal.

Thankyou :)

Get as much air to it as you can. After drying lay back on the bed for a few minutes after your shower so it's exposed to the air. Ask your midwife to check for any sign of infection. If you are a larger lady and have a major overhang, you can tuck a clean, dry maternity towel in there so that you don't have skin stuck to skin all the time.

I wouldn't directly put soap on the scar.

If you have a bath put some lavender oil in the water as it aids healing.

When you get out, pat the scar dry - don't rub it.

After your wash lay down on the bed and let the scar air dry as well. Don't get dressed until you are sure it's totally dry.

If you're at all worried about it ask your MW to take a look.

lavender oil definitely, pat dry very lightly and let lots of air get to it.
