Hi everyone, I had an emergency c-section a week ago and am feeling more sore now than I was then, just wondered how long it took others for the soreness to start going away,I just want to be able to walk around and go to the toilet without being in pain!!

Hi I had EMCS 7 weeks ago. I was up and around the next day but the pain continued for some weeks. Does the scar look red or weeping at all? I got an infection after 2 weeks and had to have anti-biotics - this maybe the case for you? I was on voltarol for about 3 weeks after my cs and after that I felt pain occassionally and although every now and again I feel it pulling it definitely improves drastically in the coming days and weeks. Hope you feel well again soon.

I had an EMCS too and was feeling much better after about 2 weeks. However, I remember walking up a hill with the buggy and really struggling with it, so had to go back to taking it easy - I guess we use our tummy muscles when we don't realise too! At about 6 weeks I had a few days when I felt really achy again and had to take painkillers, but then was ok again. DD is now about 6 months and I still have days where it's a bit funny and scratchy. Just take it really easy - make sure your DP does all the housework, hoovering, bending over etc and you just rest!

Definitely 2 or 3 weeks. But it got better much more quickly after that.

With both mine, I was on pain-killers for about 3 weeks. The scar felt occasionally sore and then numb in places with a sort-of prickly sensation for about 7 months with ds1 and with ds2, I still get occasional twinges from it (though it is far from sore). DS2 is 2.5 years old.

Thank you for your replies,I had stopped taking the painkillers as I was getting really bad trapped wind and constipation,I relented and started taking them again and it feels alot better so far! x

Definitely take the painkillers. You should get a senna prescription to prevent constipation.

And keep moving and work on breathing in deeply and standing upright. I was active asap after my cs as my DD was in scbu and although the 1st 2 days were hellish, my recovery was then faster thsn friends who had cs. Oh and wound care is really important - keep it clean and dry and air it lots to prevent infection.
