Hi I am due to give birth at the RAH in March. This is my second pregnancy, the first was 14 years ago so this is like the first time all over again! Can anyone tell me how long I will need to stay in hospital for for a normal delivery as well as a c-section.

Also I noticed from their website that dads can visit from 12.30-9pm. Do you think my 14 year old will be allowed to visit during this time also?

Any inside info on this would be greatly appreciated....

Hi!

I gave birth in the RAH last year. Had a really positive experience.

Yes Dads are allowed on the wards 12.30-9pm but are asked to leave at mealtimes so make sure your partner has food with him or has somewhere close at hand to go as the cafe in he main hospital is not always open. Some midwives let the partners stay though, but better to be prepared.

Not sure about children visiting - I know that siblings are allowed but other children are not.

I had a c-section and standard practice is to stay in for 3 days following section. I stayed in an extra day until my DD started to breastfeed.

Hope this helps!

Normal delivery you can be home as little as 6 hours later providing that all is well, as far as I am aware, although think 24 hours is usual.
