Hiya,
Just after some advice if you dont mind hun, after the birth of my dd 8days ago, my stiches seem to be bleeding whenever i pass anything on the toilet. They dont bleed constantly, and its deffinatly coming from that area.
Once it starts to bleed, the blood seems to be running out, but after 10minutes it all seems to stop! Can they tear at all?
Thx

Hi jofeb04 - could the bleeding be coming from haemarrhoids at all? That is far more likely than the stitches themselves. 8 days after birth the area should be pretty much healed where you have stitches. Your midwife should still be visiting at the moment - ask her to have a wee look. Sometimes the stitch line does open (happened to me after DS2), but it should still heal. Best to make sure where bleeding is from to get best treatement. If haemorrhoids, plenty of roughag and aunsol should do the trick. If stitch line has broken down it is important to keep area clean. In the outside chance there is an infection present, you might need antibiotics. As I said, most common reason is haemorrhoids. HTH.

They usually return after childbirth! Make sure you are getting enough roughage. Fybogel can help if not. Anusol will help the piles.

how much weight, on average, do babies gain in the womb during the last 10 weeks? Is it something like 1/2Ib a week?

mears · 04/10/2005 22:26

Yes, supposed to be sweetheart. However, they are all little individuals and gain at ddifferent rates. Plus, sometimes (often) estimated weights on scan are wrong and when mums calculate 1/2 pound per week on a weight they were given at scan they can be terrified into thinking they are going to have a 12lb baby that turns out to be 8lb 3oz.

Oh gawd! Those piles can come back?! !
