Did I just pee myself!

So at 5.18am this morning I felt a trickle. As I sat up to get out of bed I felt more 'water' running down my legs. Not a huge amount but I left a damp patch on the bed and the carpet. I calmly called to my hubby that I thought my waters had broken and we both fake slept for another hour.

There was no more running waters but a mucousy discharge that is totally clear.

Later that morning I called the hospital just to get advice as I was experiencing no other signs. They asked me to come in for assessment which surprised me. So off to hospital we trotted both trying to contain our excitement. This is it! We are going to have a baby!

But NO! Instead I was told that my waters haven't broken. That it might just be a show or that I urinated! WHAT! I did not pee myself! Where is my baby! How much longer do I have to wait?

Just wondered if anyone else had had any similar experiences?

Oh I am 39 weeks and impatient if that helps :)

Oh Cbell, I'm sorry but I'm nearly wetting myself laughing at the way you've written that. Grin Sorry, no advice, I'm only 32+5. hoping your baby arrives soon though. Good luck!

CBell I did that last time Grin Embarrassingly it was at work, I sneezed, a ton of 'amniotic fluid' came out, work ordered me a taxi, was waved off in dramatic style, only to be told by the hospital that my waters were definitely intact.... I was so embarrassed, I made up some cock and bull story about it just being a trickle and that they had repaired themselves and everything was fine Blush I'm sure nobody believed me, but I was NOT admitting to peeing myself after all that!!!

You didn't pee yourself but your waters haven't gone either. When your waters go, the fluid keeps on coming. Even a hind water leak ie from behind the baby's head, which is much less, more a trickle than a gush, will not just come once. The vagina is a very lubricated area for good reason. Some women will feel 'damp' for a good deal of their pregancy due to this increased lubrication. Towards term loss of small amounts of clear fluid is not unusual though obviously if you are in doubt, always ask to be checked. Most midwives will tell you to put on a pad and wait to see if the fluid keeps coming before advising you to come in. This avoids unnecessary intrusive checking when it is just normal vaginal discharge. It should be said that if it is not clear, you need to refer yourself to your local triage or midwife.

My water did not break in one go and they slowly became grener ( but that is another stoy). Sound advice from grannyangry, wear a pad a be patient. Hope things go well ..
