Episitomy Issues: Is this normal

Hi,

I had an episitomy with a forceps delivery about ten weeks ago. Everything has healed and seems ok scar wise. But I'm having a few issues and wondered if these were normal or should I be going to the Docs.

1, Sex: I've done it a few times and it's quite sore and tight, it feels like I'm being stretched along the back where they cut. Is this normal after this sort of delivery?

2, If I do too much I've started noticing that my pelvic floor just aches and so do the surrounding muscles. I've been doing my pelvic floor excercises with gusto and the Doc said my pelvic floor was fine at my six week check.

If anyone could help I'd be grateful.

Thanks

Scar tissues aches for years teatwo.

My epi still aches now when I'm exhausted and I had it 9 years ago!

If it's tight, they may have stitched you up a bit too tightly and if it doesn't settle (too early to tell perhaps just yet), then you can ask to have it sorted out.

Can't comment on the sex thing as I didn't do it for 9 months after my epi and by then, it was well healed Grin

I'd get it checked if you're worried. Mine was sore after about that long and it hadn't healed properly. It had to be re-done, but this time under GA (ignorance is bliss).

I had to wait 6-7 months with DD1 before scar settled enough to even attempt sex. Periods, walking, tiredness etc all make it ache. Only now (DD1 is 2.6) do I feel its really settling and I'm 38/40 with DD2! argh!

Thank you for your replies, I think I'll have a brief chat with my Doc the next time i see her. I've had a look on a couple of other threads as well and some of whats happening seems to have happened to others as well, so it may well just be part and parcel of the whole thing.

make sure you rest lots, tiredness can really bring on pain and achyness. best thing is to not overdo it and your body will tell you what you and cant do.
