Not happy with care received during recent private birth - starting to formulate thoughts

The title says it all really. I am starting to emerge from the post birth fog ( now 5 weeks past delivery) and realising that the care I had during late pregnancy and after birth has been much less than adequate. I don't want to name my hospital or consultant here ( please don't search my threads to see if I've named them before when this issue hadn't arisen and name them here) as I'm anxious to keep this trhead as generic as possible for obvious reasns.

I think I'd like to start with a second opinion. I'm still not well 5 weeks on so the second opionion is very valuable as I no longer fee confident enough in my consultant to revisit him with my conintuing problems and seek his advice. Depending on what advice I receive in this second opinion I want to get well first and will then decide what to do about the inadeequate care.

Can anyone please recommend their privte maternity consultant within easy reach of London?

Has anyone every complained post birth about care and had either positive or negative results?

As I understood it, it's the transfusion that puts the most strain on the heart. Something to do with the fact that when the body is loosing blood it has inbuilt mechanisms to compensate like shutting off blood supply to extremities & less essential organs and releasing blood-clotting agents in certain areas but blood-thinning in others in order to promote survival - whereas there are no ways the body has to deal with incoming blood, even if it needs it, as that is a situation that never would arise "in nature', as it were. No idea how medically accurate or not that picture is tho, sorry.

Thanks elvisgirl and sorry to hear you have been negatively affected.

Can anyone help please with suitable words to say to leave current consultant? I have already informed new consultant that I'll be with her henceforth and need notes transferred now.

I would have thought that the hospital would have a copy of your notes so might be worth calling them first. You will only have to talk to your consultants secretary anyway so dont worry if you have to get them off him and given the way he treated you I would not lose sleep over his feelings. Failing that explain your situation to your current consultants secretary and perhaps she will be able to get your notes transferred over.

Im so glad you have found a nice consultant and please let us know how you get on. Take care xx
